I'm asking this for a friend of mine. She is a Canadian citizen, and her husband is Nigerian. They have been trying to get him into Canada for years now, but he has a criminal conviction for drug possession, and he was using a fake passport to travel previously, so his case has been seriously delayed. The visa officer knows about the conviction and previous fake passport; however, no final decision has been reached yet.
He got tired of waiting and had an affair with another Canadian woman, who is now pregnant; the pregnancy was planned. He thinks if he gets divorced and marries this new woman, he will easily get his PR visa because of the baby.
I think he has no chance of getting a PR visa now (and his chances weren't very good before, IMO), because he has now committed what looks like 3 cases of immigration fraud: the first marriage now appears to be fake, he admittedly had a fake passport, and now it looks like he wants a baby just to get into Canada.
What do you think? Does he still have a chance to be accepted? Is there any advice I can give my friend?
