Dear Ladhar
Landing experience goes like this:-
Reached IGI well 4 hrs before my flight time and went straight in. After getting to the airlines counter where they checked-in my luggage and gave me boarding pass in just 7-10 minutes. Then went straight to the immigration counter where the people are bit irritating. Person at the counter asked for my passport and COPR. Then he asked me some questions like....what do i do, where do i work, is it a job or my own business. Then he took almost 8-10 minutes just checking my passport and visa sticker .....straight, upside down, then in front of some light. Then after this agonising wait where i remained calm and silent he handed me back my COPR and stamped my passport. Then i went straight to the boarding area. Nothing much to mention about the flight.
A sea of change in attitude greeted me at the Canadian port of entry i.e. Toronto. I was guided to the first immigration counter where i waited for my turn. An officer greeted me and checked my PPR n COPR. Asked me about funds i was carrying and asked abt goods to follow afterwards and got my signatures on the form he filled himself. Then i proceeded to the immigration section for first timers. Here the officer again checked my papers and stamped the COPR after getting my initials on it. Here my canadian address was also updated by him in the system alogwith other details he put into the system which took around 6-8 minutes. Then I was asked to sign the COPR paper and was given the duplicate copy of the same. After that i went to another counter where reading material related to canada for new comers was provided free of cost.
Then I went down one level and got the luggage collected and was again guided to an immigration counter. Here I was asked to fill some details on the form given by the officer. He again checked the papers and greeted me that now I was permanent resident of Canada and wished me luck.
I straight went out and now I am enjoying the canadian life.......
Already got my SIN, opened bank account, going to YMCA for some orientation program, have been to one of the most happening st......bars of downtown.
Now one thing which is worrying me a lot is the change in my ECAS which is again showing as "In-Process" where as after landing it had changed from "Decision made" to "Complete" with my complete canadian address (which i provided to the immigration officer at the time of landing) still appearing under my current home address. Is is that they are processing my PR card. Do I need to get my mailing address updated which is still of India. Jaggy bhaji or others who know this may kindly reply me back......
