As mentioned by a StarMember BC2013 in another post regarding MI3 applicants would be rejected on grounds of JD mismatch or not:

"For MI3 applicants, According to the new/modified OP06b MI2/3 applicants whose file had been forwarded to the processing VO had received a final MI eligibility determination. Hence the processing VO will go with this decision, unless it is obviously wrong. The OP refers to Bulletin 338, which I was not able to find.Since "fairness" is specifically mentioned, even if the VO has concernes about JD, they will at least have to give an opportunity to provide additional data / documents.

"Since the CIO makes a final MI eligibility determination, a visa officer
may only refuse an eligible NOC code application on minimal requirements if procedural
fairness is followed." (OP06b, page 24)

For MI-1 applicants it might be a different story, because here the processing VO will check the MI eligibility according to OP06a."

My address first appeared yesterday morning. Once i log in, the first page shows "your current mailing address" under that "to change this mailing address contact us", and then below that "in process", if i click it then only one line appears " we received your application for permanent residence on March 23, 2012".

@ taking chances

Same as you

dear jaggy both info were very useful...keep it up..!!!

MI-3 applicants are more safe in-terms of JD....and other assessments!! but I'm still confused

with this ecas updating thing as goti, takingchances and couple of more ppl have confirmed that

address has been appears on ecas...Over all,I think this is a good sign for them (my general opinion)

Guys I'm just telling you the logic behind updation of old and new Ecas.

Old Ecas Updation
  • The logic behind change from Indian to Canadian address for an NDVO applicant earlier was that the applicant first belonged to India, but now since he/she will be a Canadian resident, Canadian address is updated in ecas......which means visa granted. Updation of canadian address as mentioned on ur appln is still followed now by local VO.
  • It would include Indian mailing address
  • It would directly not show the status "In Process" as with MI3 applicants........Instead there were various other status like CIO Review complete, RBVO and so on
  • When VO starts working on the file, a status would read as "We reviewed and started processing on XX"
  • For every small detail, it was manually updated

New Ecas Updation
  • Currently for MI3 applicants, after the switchover from CAIPS to GCMS, most of the ecas updates made are automatic
  • They have stopped wasting their time and energies for ecas updation and instead provided a clear picture of where ur file currently is thru new ecas update
  • Since most of the work is now done by CIC, the ecas status directly shows as "In Process", it can mean from when it ws recd by CIC ...processing has already started......though its just what I think
  • VO are just left to see the logical disposition of a file based on local knowledge they have
  • But in my view, they are still not trained on standardized ecas updation, which sumtimes can cause Confusion.

BOTTOMLINE:Ecas is updated so that client knows which level or processing exactly his/her file is at.
Other than DM made without medicals, there is no reason to worry while checking ecas.

I hope this clears some of ur doubts regarding ecas!!!!!

Dear All,
After a long silence, finally I saw a new line-02 added on 01-Jun-2012 in my ECAS:-

Line01: We received your application for permanent residence on March XX, 2010.

Line02: We reviewed your application and sent you a letter on May XX, 2012 to XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us. If we have sent the letter to the wrong address, please contact us.

Can anyone suggest me What kind of letter I am expecting??
