My spouse (applicant) was here as an international student, so she already has a student-permit valid until 2019. We applied at the end of January and she just received her work-permit.

Is the study-permit still valid? can she hold both at the same time?

Can she work (20+ hours) and study (3+ months) at the same time?

If it says on the Study Permit that it is valid until 2019 it is valid until the date that's on the permit, however the only thing I wouldn't be sure of is whether you can work only 20 hours or full time hours where you are a student. I'm pretty sure you can work full time as you have a separate work permit that's open and you also have a student permit. That's only my opinion though.

The rules surrounding study permits were changed back in 2014, requiring a permit holder to actually...study:

As long as she has in fact been studying, she will be able to continue to study. The OWP allows her to work any number of hours.

She has been studying, just taking a summer break now. She is actually thinking of doing a coding bootcamp.
