I would not try to persuade the officer, if i would do, he/she will ask me ID proof of new address. It just gets you into difficult position which might affect your other procedures while crossing the border. Have you thought of renting/buying mail forwarding service from Canadapost? I did this when i was in Nova Scotia but you might want to check it with your local post office. So, If your PR card arrives at your old address, the postman will automatically redirect postal package to your new address. I dont know whether this really works, but it just a thought you might want to explore.
Here it is:

Honestly I was a little conservative so I got an official letter a few weeks ago but I don't think that you will face any problem.

I have another problem. I will move to a new address very soon. Do you guys think that I can persuade the officer to send my PR card to a new address which is different from my driving license? Or should I change the address on my license first?

Congrats to all for getting the visa stamped:) Did your passport was reached to Ottawa before July 2?

My passport reached the visa office on July 02. Still the tracker is not activated...

Hi enamul,

Mine had reached there on July 2. Do you reside in Canada? Is your return package from Canada Post (Xpress)?

Kamranj,

What is the latest status of your return package? Mine is in transit in ottawa. It does not also show the destination while it was showing it when going to ottawa.

Hi Kamranj,

Yes, I reside in BC and my return package is canada xpresspost. I sent the passport on June 29 and it reached on July 03, so it takes about 3 days from here.

By the way, I have used courier address, don't know whether that makes a difference.

Guys I need to land in vancouver but the problem I have is that currently non of my friends are around so they can take me to the border to do this. Does anyone know is there anyway I can get there by public transport and how would it be different compared to going there by car? which border is better for this? (I heard Peace Arch?!). I am new to Vancouver. My other option is to land in local CIC office which today they told me will happen in a month !! I dont want to wait that long

I am also from Vancouver and hoping for landing soon (waiting for visa). I think you need to go to Bridgeport Station and then take 351 to reach whiterock. It may take about couple of hours. You can use googlemap tripplanner to get better idea.

Also please share about your landing experience :)

Hi viva2014,
Mine was the same but apparently it has arrived Toronto around 3:00 AM.

Item picked up by Canada Post > Ottawa
Item processed > Ottawa
Item processed > Mississauga (3:00 AM)

Current status is Accepted which is wrong. It has already arrived Toronto.

Hi guys,
My wife is now getting EI support (Employment insurance) from the government. I did quick research and got to know that EI is NOT a welfare, so it does not affect for PR applications (which I can see now). But is there any problem while landing, if officer asks what she does and/or whether getting EI or not? I am very much confused because government pays EI but we paid for it while working. It's an insurance.

Did anyone go through this or have any ideas on this regard whether it will be fine or not?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I received the RPRF, Medical exam and Police certificate requests via email!

Back in June 16th I had received an email with this text: “your application has received a positive determination of eligibility to be processed on the basis of your enrollment in, or completion of, a PhD program”. Sorry for the dumb question, but is this what is called PER? I’m in a university in Ontario, is this email what I need to change my "status" and reduce my tuition fees?

Also, I only have one page left on my passport, I haven’t gotten a new one for fear it would confuse CIC. Should I get a new one and just send both passports and a cover letter explaining when I get the passport request? I'll need more pages for a visa to a different country very soon anyways.

P.S.: Just a reminder, I’m the guy whose application was returned in December and miraculously reassessed in June.
