Thanks Chakri!

They neither crossed off my TRV nor my study permit. However, once you did the landing and activated your PR status they (TRV and study permit) are a piece of crap. They won't help you to enter Canada. Technically you cannot enter into Canada on a commercial vehicle like Aeroplane or Bus without a PR card. But you can enter on your own car or a friends car through US boarder with your COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence) and passport with Immigrant visa. So if you have to go out of the country on emergency basis (when you have a U.S.Visa) you can travel to U.S by renting a car or on your friend's car and can take a flight from there to the country where you want to go to. On the way back you have to follow the same process to enter in to Canada. Take a flight back to U.S and then enter into Canada by a rented car or your friend's car. In this case your COPR and immigrant visa are enough to enter Canada.

On the other hand, you have an option to request CIC for emergency processing of your PR card.

My ecas now says "decision made". Details are:

"We received your application for permanent residence on September 12, 2013.
We started processing your application on July 31, 2014.
Medical results have been received.
A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision."

I haven't received the passport request yet though.

I hope so! Yeah, I also found it strange that it says July 31 as the start date of processing. I taught maybe it's the date that they have all the documents, fee, medical, etc. all together. So, it's the date that they made the final decision. Mine is just a guess though. Fingers crossed for the rest!

It must be good news! Congratulations. Mine still "in process".

According to the tracker, you received your medical request on July 14th, however, they started processing your application only on July 31. I think it might indicate that those who received email from "Program Assistants" have not had their eligibility assessed at the time the email was sent. :(

My status changed to "we started processing of your application" on the day I got my medical. Not sure what to make of it.

Was this question for me? Well, I'll reply anyways :) I got the medical request on July 14, took the medicals on July 16, and sent my bank history and RPRF receipt on the same day. I wasn't sure if I'm supposed to email or mail, so I did both.

I already emailed them the documents on August 3rd. Maybe I should mail them as well.

Thanks, but in the list of your work experience it also asks for the corresponding NOC code which if I add, would be a bit misleading. right?
rogelio's 1st answer is spot on. I completely agree with his approach. For your 2nd question in this post: it will not be misleading if you add a job experience in the schedule3 form with NOC code in skill type 0/A/B but failed to attach a supervisor/HR letter describing your duties because you are out of contact with your past employer. And I think you should add it because any Canadian experience will make the application stronger even if they cannot 'technically' award any points to you. In my case, I added a Canadian part-time experience (less than a year, skill type A) in the schedule3 form but did not bother to gather a letter about list of duties. I just attached the appointment letter from HR and some pay-stubs. However, I added my part-time experiences at Walmart, Superstore etc. elsewhere in the application as part of my employment history.

A new application

Hi guys,
I am new here and I am preparing documents for the PR application. Could you please help me with the following?

First) Do I need to include police certificates from my home country and Canada Police? Can't I send these certificates later if they ask?

Second) Is it enough to include a letter from the department (where I am TAing) and T4 forms for job experience? Do I need sent a letter from HR as well?

Third) I can have 15k for 6 month after application in my account. Is this enough? When is the most possible time that they might ask for account history?

I appreciate any advice.

In terms of gaining insight onto the application process of PhD stream, and getting help from technical oriented people, I agree that this thread is almost unparalleled. I doubt that even lawyers would easily be able to give some of the useful information we're getting from this PhD stream forum.

However, it's probably worth your time to research the processing times of some of the other streams of FSW as well. Check the following spreadsheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11gAbKSoDoOr1s8_raB1qwz0i-ZH0NyNWhhn18O6kHwQ/edit#gid=1627896255

It's amazing how fast some of these applications have been getting processed. Some May 2014 applicants (to CPC Ottawa) have been getting medical requests  !!!
Thanks for the response. Will they focus on different things when evaluating the files in FSW compared to phd stream? like putting more stress on work experience vs. academics?? any idea?

Welcome to the forum. :)

1) you do not have to send the police clearance certificate (PCC) from Canada police. They just need PCC from your home country and other countries where you lived more than 6 months. And also PCC's are not mandatory to send along with application. You can update them while your application is in process.

2) If the letter from your department is strong enough you do not need any T4's or HR letter. If you decide to include HR letter, make sure the letter from the department do not contradict the letter from HR in any manner.

3) You never know when they will ask you to provide 6 months bank statements. So I would suggest you to keep it in the bank account until you receive the medical and RPRF requests.
