I have been following this forum recently and I found it significantly helpful. My application was refused about a month ago from Ottawa after almost a year of receiving PER since the officer did not award me 5 points for adaptability as well as 2 points for my RA/TA letter. The officer had mentioned since the duties did not match the document, hence no point is awarded. My RA/TA letter had not listed RA responsibilities matching NOC duties but the officer did not even award me any point for my TA!
I have been reading these posts but still I have not been able to find a clear sample of RA/TA letter by an applicant that has been successful. Could anyone help me please to format this letter as in terms of how to split RA and TA hours and how to put responsibilities down. Since TA is done only for two semesters, is it still counted toward a continuous job?
Many Thanks!
The infamous 5 points for adaptability.
Sadly, most of us did not understand what they meant. It says that 5 points will be granted for "previous study" of 2 or more years in a Canadian institution after the applicant turned 17 and has done so legally - study permit. We thought that 2 years in PhD program qualifies for those 5 points. Upon further inquiry, it seems that PhD is "current study" if you are in 3rd or 4th year and is only "previous study" if you had just completed PhD or earlier obtained MSc or BSc from Canada.
What I do not understand is this: why did so many people get PER one year ago (so they got over 67 points by getting those 5 points?) only to have them chocked off a year later? It seems that even CIC VO's did not fully understand what "previous study" meant or CIC decided to play with the words after seeing thousands of people eligible (more than they initially intended).
As for RA letter, here are the duties as per HR Canada.

You need a letter which lists duties close to what's here.
