I applied in May 2012 and got PER in June 2012. My boyfriend and I will become common-law in June (1 year lived together) so it will be too late for the funds.
As I see it, the case officers proceed in a mechanical, inhuman manner (I don't mean that in a negative way, what I mean is they take our the human side out of the process, documentation) and they will look at my 6 month statement, assess that I do not have the money and that's that. I can argue all I want, state that my job position will be permanent when I complete my program (it's written in my job offer) but this is all in the future and only a mere "maybe" to them. They play by the book, by the letter and the comma, and unfortunately I do not fit in their manual.
I will write them a withdrawal letter and go a different road. PNP for my country takes 5 months so it's not the end of the world. What bugs me is the amount of money I spent on these applications: if I had applied more carefully I would have the *beep* money by now
Anyway, you guys better be ready to show the funds for the entire process. Good luck to all of you!
