If your professor wrote letter in the specified format it should be fine. Means he explicitly mentioned
number of hours per week, salary and main responsibilities (in the same way they are mentioned in
NOC 4012).

How much experience that you mentioned ? How much points you calculated by yourself ?

In my case I have attached to RA experiences.
I have a Canadian MSc too and both my Master's supervisor and PhD supervisor wrote me a letter and included 35 hrs per week. They were very careful about the job descriptions as well and the letters both included keyword "assist".

However, about a month after I sent my package, I heard from a friend who applied in 2013, that they rejected him because of 35 hrs/week, saying that you cannot be both full time student and work that many hours :(
but he said he also know someone with basically the same letter same hour who has got his PR. So it works randomly from time to time.

My points based on my calculations are 73

Yes it is true. My colleague he got his PR few days ago. Our professor wrote 40 hrs/ week. For him it went smooth. I hope it will be fine for us also. :(

I mentioned 40 Hours/ Week and I got PER, and GCMS notes shows that I got points for experience RA experience as well, I am not sure about the theory of 35 hrs/week or 25 hrs/week

Yes I heard that CIC people become less strict in terms of RA contracts this year. I hope it works for us too :)

No problem, you can email them to update your file, here is their email address: CPC-CTD-Ottawa @ cic.gc.ca

Please remember to keep your correspondence with them to a minimum!!!!!!!!!!!! An angry Visa Officer is something you never want to happen!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks man. I will keep your advise in mind.

I disagree, I got letter from HR and in the letter the RA hours change from semester to semester. In winter and fall three times I worked 40hrs and in two winters and two summers I worked more than 30 hrs. AND my file was not returned.

I guess it depends who gives the letter, if it is your prof then they could be suspicious.

Hi,

My application (PhD stream) was received on October 5, 2014 and my CC is charged on December 17, 2014.
Can someone tell nowadays how long it take to receive PER ??

How to update my time line on this forum ??

thanks
People who have applied under same stream in september first week are waiting for PER, their cc was charged around 20-22 nov, still no PER. They started processing payment right after completion check and officer has to review ur file before issuing PER.

So, do not expect it for next 2-3 weeks at least.... BUT ALL THE VERY BEST WITH UR APPLICATION PROCESS.

In my friend's case the reason was explicitly that he could not possibly be working as RA for 35 hrs/ week and study at the same time. If it is just the matter of suspicion they can contact the supervisor or ask for more clarification from HR as they sometimes do for some applicants and sometimes they just don't bother and return the application all together. The department that I am doing my PhD right now, they just don't write the letter including hours, they claim that they do not supervise us and they do not know who many hours we have been working, and they direct us to our supervisors.

My professor wrote me a letter mentioning that although he is paid for 20 hours per week but as a PhD student they work sometime even more than 40 hours per week and that is normal for almost all PhD students.

Some research I have made!

CPC-Ottawa has not issued medical request to any August and late July applicants.

CIO has slowed down the issuance of PER emails to 1 month and more.

I believe CPC Ottawa is now working with old applications (late 2013 and early 2014 applicants).

I also found out why CIC has removed the Visa Office field from the Generic Form:

As of September 1st, some Canadian Visa Offices overseas will no longer process applications for permanent residence under the FSW class. If you applied before September 1st 2014 your application may be forwarded to another Visa Office close to your home country. It only applies to some Visa Offices overseas, specially in the Caribbean, so don't panic please!.

Hi Pepe,
They changed the form in November not September.

Agree. Specially for issuing PER.
