Hello House,

Just to bring to our attention all who may intend to fly to CA or other destinations with Turkish Airlines. 36 people dead with 157 personnels injured at Turkish airport(Ataturk airport Istanbul) yesterday evening. Have flown to USA with turkish and sure know how busy the airport is at all times during the day. So please we may need have a rethink on decisions of which airlines to fly with.

Thanks. Turkish was the cheapest flight out but I already decided with all the unrest I'd rather pay $700 more. May the souls of the dead rest in peace.

Amen,

But am eager to know what options are available apart from United and Delta at this point ??? ???

Guys as usual please ensure you don't take flights transiting through US unless you have their VISA

Thanks for the heads-up. Emirates transits in Seattle or Houston. BA does too. So I reckon it's time to get both UK n USA (transit) visas.

Don't think you would require a transit visa to go via uk as Canada is your final destination.

Anyway maybe Brexit fit don change am. I'll try to verify.

There is a Lagos-Dubai-Toronto on Emirate, but it's more expensive.

Well Brexit has not changed the rule yet. See below extract from UKBA site.

Transiting without a visa

You might be eligible for ‘transit without visa’ if:
you arrive and depart by air
have a confirmed onward flight that leaves on the day you arrive or before midnight on the day after you arrive
have the right documents for your destination (eg a visa for that country)

One of the following must also apply:
you’re travelling to (or on part of a reasonable journey to) Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA and have a valid visa for that country

Guys you can use the multi-city flights. It's cheaper but longer. And ensures the routes don't pass thru US. I did to Addis Ababa then from Addis Ababa to YXE (Saskatoon). That goes thru Dublin-Toronto then YXE.Have to stay over at Addis Ababa for a night though. The straight flight I saw with Ethiopian airlines within my travel time was going thru US so I decided on the multi city. You can always call your chosen airline's customer service for guidance
