Hello,

We've received ppr request and CENOMAR (a cerificate that my spouse is not married in Philippines) We got married in Alberta and We are under spousal sponsorship). However, Philippines doesn't recognize same sex marriage. We are confused what marital status (Philippines or Canadian) to put on our Appendix A. Please help and Thank you in advance.

For the Canadian immigration forms, you have to put married. For anything from the Philippines, you can go with single, since same-sex marriage is not recognized there. But if there is a discrepancy, put married on the Canadian forms, then explain.
Did you mean the visa office is asking for a cenomar stating your spouse is not married at all? Or just not married in the Philippines?

Thank you for your input.
Yes, you are right. We should put married status as we are filling out a Canadian form.
Visa office is asking cenomar for my spouse to make sure that she is single in the Philippines.
Again thank you for clarification.
