Ya me too!!.. Im originally from kenya and i have a heavy british/bermudian accent now.. Actually when i tell people im from Kenya they are usually amazed beause i uhmmm "lost it" ??. But when i am very nervous or if i was in your husbands situation. IDO forget my proper English and i stutter/forget/become very nervous. My hubby knows me soo well so he normally holds my hand or caresses my fingers when im in such a situation and it somewhat helps. He also butts in wherever i forget so i totally understand WHAT HE AND YOU WERE GOING THROUGH!. i also have a heavy Kenyan accent when im excited or nervous.. well thats what people say!...
These people dont understand ths though. They are not a good judge of people characters esp when it comes from a different race. I wonder HOW on earth they get such a job!. I think these people who judge for immigration should live in these countries and understand before passing judgement. Its just plain wrong!/..This IS normal for him to act that way.. Us Africans. well majhority of us are shy and cultured and into our roots. We are also accustomed to being looked at suspiciously every border we cross. Its frustrating but im used to the treatment by now.. SMH!! ::)
