The Option C is a form your sponsor can request from Revenue Canada (a phone call to them does the trick)...it's basically a summary of their tax filing info for the previous year. It's one of the main things the CIC will use to determine the financial situation of your sponsor.

You definately do not need to waste your money on lawyers or consultants. Everything you need to know is in the package online and if you have any questions the Forum surely has answers from many with experience. so just ask.

After I do the med exam and FBI check, do I need to stay here until results are mailed here or can they be mailed to Canada?

OR, can all of it be received online no matter where I am?

I'm trying not to stay here in Texas any longer than I need to.

Your medical results are transferred directly to CIC under the new system.The medical office where you had your exam will give you a form with a bar code which is submitted with you application. The FBI clearances can be sent to you in Canada, there is no need to wait in the USA for them.

Oh! So, I come back here, after marriage, get my med exam and FBI check.

Then go back to him with all my papers, then we file together from his place? All one package?

Basically yes, although there's no reason you have to wait until you're married to get that stuff The FBI check in particular takes on average 6 weeks so the sooner you get it done the better. It will be valid for three months to be sure the app gets sent in within that time.

If you're returning to him in person, then, yes, bring it all with you and he puts it all together in one package (I technically did two envelopes in one courier envelope). Or, if time is a factor, courier all your stuff to him when you have it.

Just an addendum to that...

There would be one reason you would wait -- if you plan on immediately changing your name after you get married. More specifically, if your passport name will be updated right after you get married. The name on all your application forms must match the name in your passport.

If you weren't planning on returning to the US after the wedding, you don't actually have to. The whole app, including the medical and FBI cert, can be done while you are in Canada.

And honestly, I, the person being sponsored, did about 99% of the app and I just had my wife sign, fill-in and read where she needed to.

Yep, can do 100% of the app from Canada.

Do I keep all my questions about PR,marriage, etc. in this one thread? Or am I supposed to post different questions in different more appropriate forums?

Can I change my US passport name, after marriage, while I'm still in NL?

I'm also going to have to change things so I still get my Social Security pay (looking into that through their office today).

I am staying there for 90 days, but I do have to come back here to Texas for a month (at least) to wrap up things on this end anyway.

You all have said it's better to apply while I'm in the states, but if he is going to actually send in the papers what difference does it make where I am at the time?
