AOS - The large number of remaining AOS applications and the question of how Alberta can address this situation

According to the AAIP report, a total of 7,968 nomination certificates have been issued as of September 27, 2023, out of the expected 9,750 nomination certificates for the year 2023, including the anticipated allocation of 4,240 nomination certificates for the AOS program. However, there are still approximately 2,196 applications in the queue as of June 26, 2023, with only approximately 195 allocations remaining. This is just for the first half of the year. How will the Alberta government address this situation?

I submitted my AOS documents on August 25, 2023, and I am unsure about the status of my application and when it will be processed.

lol you are asking this forum what will the Government of Alberta do once the quota has been met.............No one here can tell you that. As you alluded to there are a few thousand applications ahead of yours, surely you don't want to skip the line right? If the allocation is finished, then that's all there is to it.

Don't get your hopes up. It is not usual practice to shift nomination allocation across streams, even if one stream is very underutilized. The allocation to each stream is an agreed number between IRCC and the province. I am not sure what kind of circumstance would cause IRCC to allow a rearrangement. Over subscription in one specific stream is not a significant cause to shift what was agreed on.

Good news for AOS applicants! As I anticipated, the Alberta government has reallocated the number of nominations from lower-demand streams to enhance the capacity of the Alberta Opportunity Stream. As a result, the AOS allocation has increased by 730 nominations, bringing the total to 4,970 nominations, exceeding the previously expected 4,240 nominations.
