AOR received - Sending additional documents

Hello, really need your help on this.

I have submitted my application through a lawyer and have received the AOR in Feb this year. Now I would like to send in some additional documents ( updated employment reference letter, and the police certificate ).
My lawyer says we cant send any additional documents now and we need to wait for them to respond. Only if they ask for additional documents then we are supposed to send them.
I am confused and worried. I have seen in this forum applicants mentioning that they have sent additional documents and amended documents after receiving AOR.

Can you please advise. is it too late now to send additional documents ?

CIC prefers that "additional" communication be kept to a minimum, so that VOs can spend their time processing applications, not adding paperwork and changing details in files. In that sense, your lawyer is correct. CIC will request the PCC, so you can wait for that.

As for an "updated" letter, there is no point, CIC cannot use any new/additional experience that occurred after you applied.

If you mean a letter that provides additional information (for example, job duties) but does not change anything else, that would be a good idea to send. Sometimes CIC will request extra information, but they can also just evaluate what you send, and refuse on that basis. But your lawyer may be confident that what you already sent is good enough.

If the letter is attempting to change some information, that is usually a bad idea, but that would depend entirely on the situation.

I am surprised ! Whether your Lawyer is really an immigration Lawyer ? :'(
You can send Additional Document like PCC at any time .
In fact I personally did after getting my AOR.

One point Which I am not sure 100 % Whether you can send updated reference letter or not (Senior members can advice on this), but for PCC go ahead
Note: Infact applicant send T4 and assessment after they received AOR

Hope this will help
-Good Luck

I agree to what Jes has just mentioned.

To add to this topic, i would tell you my story. I received my AOR in Nov'13 and in early April'14 i realized that i had given a copy of PCC but not the original one. Hence i checked with my rep and she said we can anytime forward the REQUIRED documentation to CIC (instead of waiting for a query from CIC). Hence i forwarded the original PCC to CIC on 07-Apr considering that i might get a query later if i don't submit it upfront.

I am glad i did that and never received a query and the next communication i got from CIC post AOR was my medical request that came on 30-Apr.

Hence i would i say, if you think that they might ask for that info, then better you send it across.

Hope it helps.
Cheers...!!

In the past I would have suggested sending the PCC as soon as possible, but lately we've seen a lot of posts from people who have sent the PCC, but later got a request to submit a PCC, so then it becomes very confusing for everyone. Because of this, I would now suggest either sending the PCC with your application, or wait until you get the request from CIC.

Hi jes_ON, CEC_1304, Ashra
Thank you all for your responses,

I dont think my updated letters change anything thats already in my earlier letters. It will only add more info.

At the time of applying I didnt have my reference letter mentioning roles and responsibilities, as is the case with many others I couldnt get such a letter from our company Manager or HR.
So I just attached an employment letter specifying the period of work, and then attached an lmo copy ( as it has my roles defined, didn't know at that time if it would help but added it just in case ).
I received the AOR in Feb. After pursuing further, now I got a letter on company letter head from my immediate supervisor ( not manager but senior tech lead )specifying my roles and responsibilities. I also got an updated employment letter from my HR showing the period of my work in the company.

so am thinking if I can scan these two documents and send it to CPO by email.

Also, I have received PCC, can I go ahead and mail it ? or should I wait for the CPO to ask for it. I want to make sure its not lost as I need to send the original via mail.

Please advise -

You can do that. It's still your file, your lawyer cannot stop you. But you should let him know what you're doing, even if he doesn't agree with it.

I would wait until I receive the request and then mail it, however, keep it ready and handy.

Thanks

PCC has to be sent in original, hence, it is through "mail" and not "e-mail" :)

I mentioned my AOR number on top of the envelope and attached a covering letter stating that I am attaching the PCC Originals as requested.

Good luck
