AOR received, can I leave Canada?

Hi all,

I submitted my application in March and I've received my AOR in April.
I have an open work-permit, expiring in August 2014.
I am planning to study Mandarin in China for few months, can I do that?
Will it risk my PR application? Do I need to notify CIC? What steps I need to take?

You are good ,, I wont have any impact on your application,,, just update them with the new address.

I wouldnt go anywhere cause what they ll call you..just get PR and then do whatever you wanna do..

Leave any time after applying, one of my friend just applied and left Canada. However, everything went smooth and He is PR holder now

Hello.

Agree with honeysignh. Living Canada while application under CEC is in process has no impact to an application.

NOT updating CIC of any changes in your address would however, cause delay to processing.

it is not a problem.
I had the same issue and called CIC call centre TWICE and that was the answer i got lol
they told me to just update my mailing address and all was good
you can even get your medical done while youre in china as long as the doctor is listed on CIC certified doctors list

I applied in October 2012, right when I applied I left and came back in January 2013. Had no effect on my application, in fact I just received my police certificate request last week.

I stay with my relative's home here in Vancouver, so the mail won't get lost actually.

Yes, its a good practice to update the residing address even if you are planning to return after 8 months, and keep the mailing address same, so that you wont miss any update.

(No one cares if its a short trip 2weeks - 2 months,,,, but 8 months is a big gap so i would suggest to update)
