Yes, I have been in background check stage since June 17, 2016. Hang in there, friend. Hopefully, you will hear the good news soon. You will surely get a PPR eventually. Rejections at this stage are extremely rare.

Same here Robin, I'm in BG check since November, my medical has got changed to 'under review' again, nothing else. Thanks for keeping this thread alive

I'm CEC Inland, here is my timeline:

AOR: 13 Jun
Medical Passed: 1 Jul
BG in progress: 23 Nov
Medical under review again: 2 Feb

No worries about when your medical expires,it all depends upon your VO,I have seen so many applicants
whose medical is already expired and cic never sent message to redo but some visa officer would extend it.
I am also in same boat my friend so let's wait few more days.

Our medical got extended until 2018, but still the web site is showing under review.
