Relax - it looks like everything is normal. You'll only be asked for additional paperwork if needed and you will see this on the status and messages. The background check should go to in progress next and this is the longest phase where your "risk" to Canada's security is accessed and checked with multinational government organisations and potential qualifications, job offers, references etc. This can take several weeks and if you've visited or resided in multiple countries beforehand, may take months.
Hi there thank you very much for your response. It was a big relief! :)

By the way my husband has a job offer and a positive LMIA. He is leaving for Canada this End of the month (Since the LMIA supports both working and express entry application) do you have any idea what are the things CIC usually check for Background checking?

Also does the Background check focus more on the principal applicant than its dependent or is it the same?

Depends on how he applied but if he has included you as coming with him, you will both have the same background check done. This focuses primarily on any potential "risk" you pose to the security of Canada and multiple global agencies are involved such as the RCMP, Interpol and other similar organisations that hold records. They are likely to look into the LMIA, job offer etc too but this is usually just a phone call to the employer. They may also check qualifications etc too.

Timelines vary depending on how many organisations have to be contacted. Sometimes it's a matter of weeks and others are a few months depending on how many countries have been visited, lived in etc etc

is that through the webform?
If so you should automatically receive an email to confirm submission of request
Yes I used the web form and got an autoreply afterwards. I just don't know if the document I sent has been attached to my application. In the email they said it will take 10 working days to receive any reply. It's been about 15 days now and no reply.

Hi Oztraveller

Check your junk mailbox.. as I did receive some replies there!!
FYI, the few times I used the webform, I got a reply after 10 days ( business days I think). The replies were lame, or automated so I am not sure you can expect a clear reply.

Maybe call the call centre and confirm if there is any issue with the webform you submitted
I think you should get something next week though

Many thanks for the reply. I checked my spam emails and there's nothing there. Will wait a few more days and then give them a call I guess. :)

Hi tindelacerna ,

I am close to receiving a job offer and was thinking about applying for a work permit to land in Canada before Winter, instead of waiting for my PR application to be complete. Did your husband also applied for a work permit? And if yes, how long did it take him to get the permit, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks in advance!

Hi! :)
yes his employer applied for an LMIA that supports dual intent. That is he can apply for a work permit and work ahead in Canada while waiting for PR application. He applied for work permit last JUne and got the approval this July that was faster the the timeline they have in CIC i guess it depends on the country and the completeness of the LMIA and supporting documents.
I suggest you apply for the work permit as soon as you get a positive LMIA opinion. What province are you planning to work?

Thank you for your response now we understand what background check is. I am really hoping to have a feedback soon :)

But as far as what I have read on the threads here in canadavisa.com usually it took the application 6 months...maximum right?

Am I the only one whose medicals remain 'Review in Progress' instead of 'Passed' 3 weeks since receiving AoR??

I have seen 'medicals' for many cases here being reviewed in a matter of days and not weeks like in my case...

Anyone else having or had their medicals review take this long???
