I submitted additional docs requested on Sep 24th. So immediately in the next couple of days it said Background check inprogress. By the way it still says Inprogress

I submitted my docs 3, 4 days after they asked for it but my bkg has not started yet. :-(

The BG check business is all over the place. I have seen, especially outlanders, get PPR and then their BGC went in progress and within a day the application was closed. For others their BGC is in process a week after they receive the AOR. There seems to be no consistency and I am not sure what to expect. Whatever I see on this forum is all speculation.

It also seems that a lot of applicants have had different experiences and different documents asked from them. It would have been much better if CIC could have a set protocol so that the applicants know what to expect.

I think BG check depends on different factors like nationality and work history. Therefore some applicants do not go through a real background check and the Police Certificates are sufficient for CIC to approve them. I guess this can be the reason for different BG check procedures for applicants.

Does the review of eligibility actually move from "in progress" to "passed"? Or do you assume that once they start your background check you have move passed the eligibility round?

Though it is early for us, considering that there are some July/Aug applicants waiting for their PR still, I called CIC this morning to inquire about my app status. Surprisingly I was able to get hold of one of the agent pretty quickly and she told me that as per recent changes call center agents cannot access EE files unless it has been 6 months. I am not sure how much should I trust her since she was not aware that PR applicants were able to access their apps through ECAS until Nov. May be this is their polite way of asking us to wait for 6 months!

I was able to drag myself waiting for the decision but looks like impatience is catching up faster than I had thought it would...
