I think you can certainly apply for Bridge open work permit, as your medical has been passed ad looks like your R10 should be done by now. You can clearly take this chance.

and about visitor visa to canada...i think dont touch that applications...even if you are denied visitor visa...you will have another Bridge open WP application in process so technically you are again on implied status.

I think you can only apply for BOWP before your current OW expires and within 4 month of expiry date. I might be wrong though .

Thanks a lot! harshmaru, how can I apply for the Bridge open WP? I've been looking, but can't find the right application. Also I don't have the LMIA number. Will they ask for it there?

AAA2133, I tried to get a BOWP before my status expired, but wasn't able to get this one. A CIC agent over the phone said to me that I wasn't eligible for a BOWP as I just submitted my PR application. So not sure if at this stage of my application I can get it back.

Yes, the visitor visa was only to be able to stay in Canada and wait for my papers here as leaving the country could be a risk of loosing all. But I need to start producing money again. Thanks again in advance,

The CIC agent was not precise. The reality is that processing time for WP is currently over 4 months. By the time that they start processing your application you would most likely pass the R10 review gate which is required for BOWP.

Does anyone else have their background check as "In Progress"? I don't know when, but mine has changed to that now. My eligibility is still "in progress" too.

My current work visa expires on March 1st. I am not sure if I can get a bridging Open Work Permit though as I have already been working for 4 years on a work permit in Canada when this current WP expires.
I have been working as an Engineer in a NOC A group and I think I read somewhere that those professions can extend beyond 4 years?!

Who knows, I might have to go see a Lawyer about it. To make matters worse I have to go home to Australia for a family thing and planning to arrive back in Canada a few days before my visa expires in Feb. If I can apply for an OWP after I land I should be ok, otherwise I am just going to have to not work until the PR comes through.

Hopefully the PR comes through before then and all of the stress won't be necessary!

Interesting.... So most likely I'll have PPR before getting a WP restoration... Might have to have my fingers cross and wait until I get the PPR and potentially go and do the flagpole to the closest U.S. Border.

Thanks a lot and good luck,

Yeah you are right..
WE can apply for Bridge OWP before we WP expires. Now he does not have a WP to get the extension..

I dont think you can restore your WP or apply for BOWP anymore as your WP is already expired. Wait for others to comment. I hope you will get the decision for your PR application very soon.

Ohhhhhh lame!

So if they process in Jan, we will have to send in our passports for stamping?!
I have to go back to Australia from Feb 10-26 for family matters.

So unless CIC lines this up perfectly and I get the email to send in my passport whilst I'm away I might be able to get back in under my valid work permit (expires March 1), then send my passport in.

If the email comes in January, I'm screwed :-[

EDIT: I currently live and work in BC, Canada (CEC, Inland)

you are right ...he cannot apply for bridge WP as his current WP expired already ..he only have a chance for visitor visa now..but it is highly unlikely that they will issue a visitor visa...visitir visa intention is only to make a visit/travel and go back ..he cannot use it for buying time in canada..

but i hope he get visitor status approved so he can saty ..i understand lots of things are on the edge now..hope u get saster processing ..im in the same mode now..my application is also under process ...wait just kills me and my time in canada day by day

Actually, I think I read that because I'm from a visa exempt country (Australia), I only have to scan in all pages of my passport instead of sending it in... Hope so

Updating you guys on Job bank code validation problem.
I got reply from CIC about my CSE. It looks like generic email:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for contacting Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

You will only be exempt from registering with Job Bank if you have a job offer that is supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). Please visit our website.

If you have a job offer that meets the requirements listed on our website:
be sure to answer Yes to the question Does (your name) have a job offer in Canada? found under the Work Experience form of your Express Entry profile.

If the job offer does not meet the requirements:
you should answer No and you must register in Job Bank to become a candidate in the Express Entry pool.

You can create your Job Seeker Profile on this website.

Once complete, you will receive a message in your MyCIC account indicating that you are now an active candidate in the Express Entry pool.

If you have an existing Job Seeker Profile, you will not be able to link it to your Express Entry profile.

In order to access your Job Seeker Code please:

Log into your MyCIC account, and
Click on the appropriate Check status and messages button under the View my submitted applications or profiles section.

Please note that the letter will not be accessible from a smart phone or an electronic tablet.

This is an automated response – Do not reply to this message.

There is no new message on Express Entry Application or PR application and old job seeker code still fails. :( :(

On second note, CIC's speed on processing refugee application is impressive. About 800 applications per day. With this speed they will have 25000 number by Jan. hmm..
July outlanders are on their 6th month though...

This will always be a topic of discussion but they have different goals for refugee. We all have to hang in tight and wait for the ghost email from CIC :-\ :-\ :-\

But July and August are almost done. I don't think we have many of them left.
