Notice of assessment is Canadian government's conclusion of your tax filing. It is specific to CEC for those already working in side Canada and is the normally accepted need since every body has to have filed their taxes if they have been here a year.

I guess the OP meant the Cover Letter by Letter of intent. That is one field for any / all docs you want to put in regarding your file that were not covered already.

fkl, I have just submitted my application however my CEC inland checklist did not ask for a Notice of Assessment =( I am concerned now! I did submit extra proof of my employment records - every single pay stub and reference letter, as well as year-to-date totals.
