Well mine moved to nn last thursday, and I'm curious what's going to come up next.

Did you hear from csis? Of course as you already know, it's not just csis that conducts the bg check. Local agencies are also involved and considering the amount of workload my home country's intelligence is dealing with, following the very unfortunate events that took place this year, I can't begin to think how long it might take them to respond to cic's enquiries!

Yeah! I'm aware that there are other agencies involved in security check. But, consider many cases we see on the forum. Majority of them have had their security checks done in 2 months or less. However, CIC takes its time finalizing cases even after CSIS advises it on security checks.

I found the information below on CSIS's website. I just sent a fax inquiring if they are done with my security check? The service is free and they send their answer in a letter to the Canadian Return Mailing Address you include in your letter.


How can I find out about the status of my immigration screening file?

For general information on immigration/ citizenship/ refugee/ visa-related issues, contact Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) at 1-888-242-2100 or website www.cic.gc.ca.

To enquire about the status of a government clearance or an immigration screening file, the following information is required*:

a full name,
date and place of birth,
the signature of the applicant, and
a return mailing address as replies are not sent by email or fax.

If you are enquiring on behalf of another person, the request must be accompanied by the Consent Form to Disclose Information to a Designated Individual.

Mail or fax the request to CSIS at the attention of:

thanks for the info. 8 weeks turnaround time?! for a mere inquiry? that's insane - you get your GCMS before that from what i have seen on this forum. does it effect your file if you do raise a CSIS inquiry for the status on your background check?

I can just conclude that they are working on our files and this a good sign. Coz there are many people in other forums with their files untouched in several months.

elams! You've been asked to submit kids' travel histories. Means they are really working on your app. To be honest, I am waiting for you to be the first one between March AORs who gets PPR from Ottawa! Hoping for soon

I got a reply,

Dear applicant,

Please be informed that your application is currently in queue for final review by an officer. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide you with a date on which your file will be reviewed. Please be assured that you will be contacted immediately should further information be required or regarding the next steps in your file. We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.

I don't know why they haven't asked for that before because they will probably want to verify the info I provided, which will take I-don't-know-how-long!

I hope we all get reach the happy end soon!

I was never told they were done with security and haven't called them in a while, so I don't know from personal experience, but I guess it should take no longer than a month. Probably much less, actually.
