Yes there is an option of Emergency but you need to have a strong reason. Try it I am sure they will do it for you at embassy.

thanks. and yeah, that's not a bad idea. any idea how long it takes between PPR and getting the VISA? my status changed to BG check "in progress" on Aug 18. AOR was March 23. So today, is actually exactly 5 months since the AOR.

There is no set answer. We are all waiting. Feb guys are still waiting. Have patience it will come in time.

I was requested to submit 2 documents on August 19th and the Background check went back to "Not needed at this time".
Submitted the requested documents today.

I can see you have also got rprf request & done payment.
I don't know your visa office, but as per recent trend CPC Ottawa has cleared files till feb22, & this week again we can expect a rain today & tomorrow ...So you are very close to the golden mail, even next week could be the one...

If it is NDVO - then God knows
Sgvo is also bit slow
