How long does it usually take?

Thanks Vishal! I emailed the address you provided yesterday and have already received their response. As you rightly said, they want me to send it to Canada. But now I am faced with couple of concerns:

1. Can we send passports outside of a country border? I used to think it is not legal to do so
2. They want Xpresspost envelopes, which I won't get in USA. I'm thinking UPS / Fedex should work - am I right?
3. Their email had mentioned: "Send passport to Canada, if ALL the applicants are in Canada' (same might apply for USA). - I am going to validate these questions with the CPC-O email ID, but just checking if you know the answers

Just in case anyone remembers my situation, my wife is in India and I am in US. I had initially sent CIC an email to change my VO to USA. They had asked me to send it to Canada, but due to the legality involved with sending the passport across international boundaries, I refrained.

I had sent CIC an email 2 days ago, and today I got a message in MyCIC account. They switched my VO to New York!
They have sent me the updated procedure in order to send it to New York. Everything stays same, just that I send it using USPS, instead of Xpresspost.

Planning to send it tomorrow, hopefully it should be stamped quickly. My medical results are about to expire in March!!!

Posting here so that others with similar situation get a solution.

I got my COPR and passport returned today. I have a couple of questions:

1) Can I do the landing process and come back to USA without having USA visa? I am on H1B here and totally legal and my H1B is valid till July 2016 but dont have visa stamped. I heard something called Automatic Visa Re-validation but not sure what it is exactly.

2) If i can come back to USA and then go back to Canada after a few months then can i still take all my goods with me? or will it be a different procedure?

Please advise.

1) Wondering... how come you are in the US if your visa is not stamped?! Typically it happens with students who just graduated, but they go back to home country and get the visa stamped. I believe it is mandatory to have a visa stamped prior to entering any country - guessing you are from India. I would refrain from doing that, first find out how to get your H1B stamped and then go to Canada. Else re-entry to USA will be difficult.

2) Once you enter Canada and get your PR card, you can enter canada anytime you wish - no one will ever stop you! I believe that's the reason we've been struggling so hard to get it in the first place ;D

By the way, I saw that you sent your passport to Ottawa for stamping from USA. Did you fedex it?! I asked them to change visa office to New York. Did fedex approve sending passport from USA to canada?

Yes. I fedexed it. With fedex return label and envelope in it. Sending passports between USA & Canada is allowed.
