It makes sense to me that you can land anytime before your visa/medical expire. But I am not really aware if there is restrictions on it from CIC's view.lifein360 said:I know I am jumping many guns here, but say I get PPR by April 1st week I send my passport get it stamped and receive COPR. Being in Canada, I would flagpole or travel outside and return by air and land then and then wait 4-6 weeks for PR card before traveling again.
But what if I didn't want to land then? Reason is, I have some holidays coming and I do not want the hassle of getting the permanent resident travel document in a foreign country and waste my time in consulates. I have a valid work permit till 2019. Could I do for a few trips and then flagpole when I know I wont be traveling for a while? Obviously I will ensure that I land before my visa/medicals expire.
Immigration wont expect me to land the very first time I exit and enter the country right?
I know, technically it seems I should be okay as it seems is for IEC. I mean, if I do not show my landing papers to immigration, they will not even know right that I have been approved for PR? Wait but my passport will have stamp, so don't know. I know its a weird request but really stupid that the 6 weeks from landing to getting PR card you cannot travel without going through hassles of visiting a Canadian consulate in a foreign country and applying for the permanent resident travel document, which is essentially a single entry visa. Like, you know I am a permanent resident and its certified on the COPR paper, what gives?samanta60 said:It makes sense to me that you can land anytime before your visa/medical expire. What I know is in case of IEC work permit, where you first receive a document called "letter of introduction" and you should show it to the officer when entering Canada to get (activate) your actual IEC wp. In that case, you don't have to activate your IEC wp the first time that you enter Canada after receiving the Letter of Introduction. You can enter Canada as a visitor or whatever without activating your IEC and you can activate IEC anytime before the letter of introduction expires.
To me activation for IEC is similar to landing for PR.
Anyways, you can call CIC and make sure.
May I ask how soon did they reply?optimistic_06 said:Thanks for confirming. I did this too, got a reply my CPC is Ottawa.
What does it mean technically though. What stage is the application at ? Is it just waiting on security check
It's a good idea to ask CIC on phone.lifein360 said:I know, technically it seems I should be okay as it seems is for IEC. Like driving license in Ontario, it takes 4-6 weeks for them to deliver your license to you, but you can still drive as long as you have the temporary paper license. Anyway, will call and figure out. Again, first lets get PR approved first so
Will do, searching here, someone else had this dilemma toosamanta60 said:It's a good idea to ask CIC on phone.
Please update us here once you figure it out.
So I guess there is no fixed pattern how they respond as they ignored my request for a week.optimistic_06 said:About 12 hours
Did you email them once or multiple times ?GaganDesi said:So I guess there is no fixed pattern how they respond as they ignored my request for a week.
