Hello members- is there a way to contact CIC for the status of the application? I applied on April 10th and see no updates on the cic portal. Thanks
If you are inside Canada , you can call on +1 (888) 242-2100 but this doesn't work from outside Canada. But you can call the US # +1 (613) 944-4000 and the system transfers you when you select 'immigration' option. Follow the instructions but the wait can be 15-20 mins to speak to an agent. Many at times due to heavy number of calls, that option isn't available. Try your luck on Mondays.

Guys a good explanation from a member posted a long time ago:

There are two different things. Application status remains in process until we complete stamping.

Regarding BG status - It will go through different stages and let me try to make it clear to you to avoid any further confusion.

Prior to March 7, CIC used to maintain the below BG status.
1. Not needed at this time (NN)
2. Not Started (NS)
3. In Progress (IP)

After March 7, they paraphase the above status as follows.

1. Not Applicable (NA) ( Old Status :: NN)
2. Next to step to conduct BG Check (NBG) (Old Status : NS)
3. In Progress (IP)

People in the threads are using the above status interchangeably. So, don't get confused.

Now as far as BG process is concerned, it will go through the below trends. I'm using new status words for your reference.

Trend 1: NA -> IP -> NA -> IP
Trend 2: NA -> NBG-> NA-> IP

Some people who are submitting RCMP along with eAPR follows Trend 2 and rest Trend 1. I may not be 100% accurate. But this is what I noticed for CEC Inlanders.
Once the applicant at IP(2), he can expect PPR anytime soon.

Regarding at what stage BG will change??

STAGE 1:: After we submit our application, the BG status would be NA and it will be there until we see a change in Medical status (Passed).

STAGE 2:: After medical update is done, then agent at CIO will change our BG to IP or NBG. Then, he will start R10 check, Criminal checks.

STAGE 3:: After the above checks are done, then he will change BG to NA and our file moved to next stage for Eligibility assessment (A11.2) . Once he/she feels that we are meeting the Eligibility then he/she will provide his/her recommendation to Visa Officer and initiate the Security Clearance. At this point only our file will be moved from CIO to CPC.

STAGE 4:: Officer at Local Visa Office (LVO) will review the recommendation, Security clearance reports. Once he/she satisfies then he/she will approve the recommendation. Then our BG will be changed to IP again. This is where PPR(Passport Request) mails triggered to applicants.
Thanks for the explanation. It's very helpful :)

I believe my case is being handled in Ottawa, as per GCMS notes. However, like you said, just in case I sent it again by CSE just now. Thank you so much for your advice.
You were really smart to get those GCMS notes. Thanks to that, you could be proactive and submit the necessary clarification and avoid a potential refusal. I wish I'd ordered mine, but at 90 days (today), it seems a bit pointless. By the time I received them, I'd likely already have a decision. Fingers crossed for both of us! :)

astralsource my friend...my crystal ball !!!! I got my medicals passed on 19th May :) hahaha.

However, have got letter to provide more information. To be more specific :-

This letter is about your application for permanent residence in Canada. In order to continue the review of your application we require that you provide us with detailed information for the time period between October 2007 and July 2008. Please provide us with residency, occupation/studies, travels, etc. for the period mentioned. If you were not working, provide information on what you were doing (for example: unemployed, studying, travelling, retired, in detention, etc). If you were studying, please provide the location of studies, time period when you took the course. If you participated in a distance education program/online studies, please indicate the name of the institution, the location where course was taken, etc. You must identify your activities during the specified period detailing day, month and year for each entry. Please use the following forms:

Travel form http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5562E.pdf
Schedule A http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/imm5669E.pdf

Please note: The above information/documents must be received within 7 days from the date of this correspondence. If this deadline is not met, your application will be assessed based on the information that was provided with your application and your application could be rejected. Please upload these documents to your MyCIC account.

I have following questions:-
1) Do I need to provide information for the specified period only? I know they have said it clearly, but just cross checking.
2) I wonder why they are asking this because I remember very well specifying this period. I was working till Nov 7th 2007. It was my last working day and then I had gone to USA from Nov 29th 2007 - Jul 8th 2008. Could it be that Nov was an overlapping month so they must have got confused?

Oh btw...got my UCI number too ;)
Hello, Did you submit both the travel history and schedule A. I have gotten the same request but no forms are mentioned. In my Account I can see a placeholder for Travel history required. Do I submit both or only travel history?

TIA

Did you check your CIC inbox? There must be an email explaining excatly what they need and in which form. For e.g. in my case...the email specifically mentioned the period between which they wanted to know my detailed activities. And in that email itself they had given links to 2 forms which I filled in and uploaded in the section that they had opened for me.

Hope this helps.
