You are required to produce POF twice in the whole process, from AOR to Landing.

1) At the time of filing your e-APR. It's a must. IRCC determines your financial eligibility a/c to the proofs you have provided. This stage you have cleared already, so there's nothing you can do now for this, and also you don't need to worry about it, in fact, since you said that you had more than enough balance in your (PA's) bank account.

2) At the time of landing:
Officer at the airport MIGHT ask you to show them the POF at the port of entry when you land. Again, it's not necessary that they will ask you for the same. It's totally on the discretion of the concerned officer to ask you for this. I have heard/read about many cases on this forum who were never asked for showing POF at the time of landing.

Now, coming to your individual case, you don't need to worry about this. You should just maintain sufficient balance in your account (PA's account) till the time of landing. If it holds minimum balance required, then your spouse's bank account doesn't need to have balance at all. You are quite fine to go ahead. Just make sure you have the latest POF issued by your bank when you land (preferably not more than one month from the date of landing).

All the best for smooth procedures and happy landing.
I believe when landing cash is also accepted and he might not even need to show bank statements correct

You are FSW-O.
So ideally it takes 60-65 days from AOR to meds passed for FSW-O (as per current trends, for most cases).
The day you get your meds passed, mostly the very same day or a day later your IP 1 starts.
It usually takes 5-10 days for this IP1 to change to Not Applicable again.
Then it takes 30-40 days from NA to IP2.
After that if you are a normal ideal case your PPR will be issued anytime between 2-15 days.

Note:- all the above timings are based on normal average cases as per current trends. Some people have been lucky and got real fast timelines and some have been unfortunate and have real slow processing times. Nothing is certain here, all depends on your case and the officer viewing your case.

Hey all, one question with respect to POF. We have submitted the account statements of both my spouse and my bank accounts, although my account has more than funds needed. I am the primary applicant. Our application now states NA. After we submitted our application, we had to withdraw funds from my spouse's account and currently that account doesn't have much. My account is still intact with whatever funds i had, actually a little more than that.

So my question is, will they check my spouse's account balance now? Or will they go with whatever proof we have submitted?

Any suggestions would be very helpful!

Thanks Again!
This has been answered but some info is not correct. When you file an application, the day it is filed the application is locked, as in after that day what changes happen, do not affect your application. However, with the PoF this is different. In some cases IRCC has verified bank details to catch fraud. So you cannot have many in your account and after getting the bank statement you withdraw the funds. You will have to maintain fund which you claim to be at your disposal. Verification of funds takes place during the eligibility and also in some cases security. Not all applicants have verification of funds, but if your job pays less money and you are showing fund in excess, this is a red flag.

For the PoF, the PA and an accompanying spouse can both show their accounts and add up the funds to meet the PoF.

In case you have withdrawn funds from your account, which you can, make sure you replenish them when you have enough funds.

PoF will also be required when you land as a PR. You need not show the latest statement, but the one you submitted with your application will be sufficient.

Hope this gives some clarity!

There is no requirement of a recent statement. The one you submitted with your application is just fine. However, if your application took almost a year to be processed, it is advisable to get a fairly recent statement. The sole purpose of PoF is to ensure that a new immigrant will be able to sustain financially and will not become a public charge. The CBSA officer will only need a statement for PoF and that will be sufficient.

When you land in Canada, you cannot bring more than 10K CAD (cash or a financial instrument) per person. And carrying cash is not advisable either for security reasons. However, the PoF is higher than that. The officer will be convinced that you have adequate PoF with the cash you are carrying, but you need to show the PoF, i.e. the minimum funds required as per IRCC.

Hope this helps!

Gawd! Different people saying different things on the process and steps and I am
A little confused. Please help.

My AOR is 24th Apr 2017 and medicals passed on 22nd June 2017. What happens after? I broadly gather that it is IP1>NA>IP2>NA>PPR! Can one of you tell me how long each of them should take as a guideline and what checks happen when?

If you are FSW-O.
Ideally it takes 52-60 days from AOR to meds passed for FSW-O (as per current trends, for most cases).

As for checks-
I will quote legalfalcon here-

1. R10 (document completeness check)
-----Criminality and Medicals are done immediately after the R10. While meds are cleared by Health Canada, Criminality is passed based on the PCCs at the CIO. (this happens at IP1 stage).
2. Eligibility - In two stages - Program analyst and then the final review by the agent. (this happens ideally between IP1 and IP2 i.e mostly when our background is in NA stage after IP1).
3. Security - The security starts immediately after the eligibility is recommended passed. So if the applicant is outland, by the time the application is transferred to LVO, the security is done, given that there is no travel history, government jobs and other factors which may delay the process. (this happens at IP2 stage).

Hope this helped.

Thank you very much legalfalcon! Very clear! Since my account already has more than required amount, do you think it is ok for the time being? I will add back the money to my spouse's account as soon as i can! Thank you again!

If you have more than the IRCC requirement, no need to worry.
