Hi All,

One of my friend recently received his passport request but his passport is expiring in August. Since he is already in Canada should he just go ahead and send his passport?

It doesn't matter, he can send his current passport to CIC, and renew another passport at the same time. When he do his landing, he can use the visa on his old passport that even it's already expired and his new passport together...The landing stamp will stamp on his new passport.

He tried but apparently, his consulate denied its request because he is on a visitor visa. Now not sure whether CIC will accept his passport or not, I mean he is ok if they gave him the latest day of the landing of passport expiry.

Not sure if the 6-month rule applied to the inland applicant or it just for Outland people.
CIC will accept his passport. He can later renew it.

Hello everybody, please see my timeline below.
PNP - Inland
AOR - 16Jan2017
Medical passed - March 2017
BG - IP to NA April 2017
No changes since April.
I renewed my visitor permit at the border in April and the officer told me that the background and security checks are all done, but when I called CIC last week they told me that that they did not initiate the security check yet. Is anyone familiar with a similar situation?
Thanks

Most of the Jan applicants are in the same position. Typically it is taking around 170 days to complete our process.

You should apply for your bridging work permit, at this pace chances are less that you will get your PPR by July 09, 2017 and we have this long weekend too in the first week of July to make our processing even slower than it is currently.

Yup so true... Long weekends are on their way... the processing will take a hit...

Have you tried calling them after 180th day? I am sure you would've, what did they say?

Yes I did, the agent told me that my security check is in progress and they probably won't have anything for me by the end of this month.
