Hi,
I also applied at SAIT. Do you already have your acceptance letter? Any idea of how long does it take from the moment you submit all the documents? My application was received and entered into their system on November 25.
Thanks!

Thanks!
I will definitely write to them because I submitted all my documents now for September 2011 intake because I was expecting to submit my visa application in January. At the moment I am an international student in NZ and I need to have an answer sooner than that otherwise I will need to change my student visa here into the graduation work permit.
Thanks again!

Here in NZ I did a Business IT Diploma. The problem was that here you need to pay for the whole diploma in order to get the visa for 2 years. So I paid for everything and when I was in the middle of semester 1 I found out the program was purely theoretical. So we were advised by our tutors to continue studying a "practical" course. I want to do library and information management but it is not offered here and in Canada there are only two options: diploma or master degree. There is no bachelor's. This is why I applied at SAIT for the 2-year diploma. I also checked Australia, but my family doesn't get a visa if I study that in Australia so that's not an option either.
What is your program of studies at SAIT? Did you apply for january intake? The program I'm interested in only has fall intake...

It is so hard to tell. In my case my whole experience is in the translation field. But I have finished the diploma in Business IT and that is why I think that if I apply for a translation program they will reject my application. I chose a program that is somewhat in line with my studies and that also interests me. But I'm in the same situation I don't know if my visa will be granted.
Anyway, do you know how hard it is to change or switch programs once you have the visa? Because I've seen that some people suggest that one should choose a program that goes strictly in line with your previous studies and then once you are there you can change it and study what you're interested in.
I will have to wait and see. But if they reject my visa I will have to look into doing a Bachelor's.
Hopefully you'll get the visa. It's so unfair to have to choose something in line with what you have studied if in fact you're interested in doing something else at the moment. Good luck with your visa!!!

Just to let u know, if u are taking the bachelors in applied science in Petroleum engineering in SAIT and if u plan to work in Canada as a Petroleum engineer, u may not be able to qualify for professional engineer status from the degree from SAIT cause the bachelors program is not accreditated by the professional board of engineers, unlike those from U of C, U of A, U of R or any of the accreditated engineering bachelors program. However, the Diploma in Petroleum engineering at SAIT is an accreditated one by the Board of Engineers in Canada for petroleum engineering technologist, so u just have to take note of it once u decide to enter the program and graduate but mind u, it may not get u to be registered as a professional petroleum engineer in canada.

I got my acceptance letter from SAIT!! Now I'm ready to send my application to the office in Sydney. From what I've read it is better to pay at least part of the tuition so I'm thinking of paying 1 semester and send the receipt with the application.
