That's amazing to hear, thank you for sharing!

I wish you and your husband a happy future ahead in Canada.

Did they ask any questions?
On arrival nothing much, just clarified a self-isolation type (it's a separate apartment in the student dormitory, we explained that security is going to bring our deliveries upstairs and knock on our door and leave it). The immigration officer (the second officer you must see after you get your bags) asked me what is my institution name and what kind of WP my husband has. The wait tbh was more intimidating than the actual process.

Thanks :) We can't wait for 14 days to pass and explore Vancouver in self-distanced way!

Yes ArriveCan is not mandatory now, but it would be from 22nd November. But we can update the information voluntarily. :)
To add on – it is not mandatory, but if ArriveCan is not completed then you must fill in health declaration on during your flight to Canada. My best advice is to actually fill it in. You cannot fill out ArriveCan 2 weeks before your flight and should fill in self-assessment 48 hours before arrival to Canada. I remember it doesn't require an internet connection to complete

It depends on how busy your visa office is. If you are talking about winter intake, it might take some time since IRCC might be running through Fall 2020 intake first

Hi everyone, what kinds of documents do I need for the entry? I have my valid visa, study permit and my college is on the DLI list. Is there anything else that I have to provide? Also, I do not want to purchase my college's quarantine package as I already have an apartment in Canada, is it a problem or I am free to stay at my home during quarantine?

If you can get college to agree with your quarantine plan in your apartment, then you are set to go. You need to provide your quarantine location. Landing is not hard, it is hard to convince your home country that you have required authorizations to enter Canada. A simple justification that DLI is on the list is not enough

Hi! I did, luckily!!!! So happy! We just slept this night in our apartment.

Now I can say for sure, that the hardest challenge was to leave my country of origin. In case others are lazy to go back and forth in posts, here is the short rundown. My route was Kyiv (Boryspil) - Amsterdam (Schiphol) - Vancouver. I was in Ukraine and during check-in my spouse (SOWP) had super easy time checking in, but for me it was harder since I didn't have Authorization to Travel issued by the embassy and my advisor wrote for some reason that my fall semester ends on December 7th (which was actually false). So they were forcing me to buy a return ticket, and so they did with anyone whose chances of getting into Canada were more challenging. I obviously refused since I am going for 2 years and was not planning on returning back. I showed them passport, LOI for both of us, Authorization to travel for my husband and LOA + Letter of support. ArriveCan successful assessment was the turning point into letting me register for flight the way I am.

Then I had a transfer flight in Amsterdam and that went super smooth. All they asked was for LOI/study permit and passport and just ran a quick test of whether the names are the same. Also, there was a health station that people have to complete before getting their gate number (so for Vancouver and for any other destinations in Canada you must visit it, so plan your layover accordingly). And people in Amsterdam were so happy, especially the officers. So if you have a chance to get a layover in Amsterdam, I highly recommend it. During my layover, I received a ghost update, which made me "sh*t my pants" (can't say otherwise) because without validity of counterfoil I obviously can't enter. I guess they were just running checks before getting me into a plane to Vancouver. The plane was only filled by 1/3. The flight itself got severely delayed for plane-related issues, so we arrived to Vancouver in the evening instead of afternoon.

On the border, we filled in declaration by using a passport+bio-reading machine and showed an officer that along with passport, LOA, and medical surveillance for my husband. The challenge here was figuring out how long the 2 years were in days lol. We showed ArriveCan and then we went to an immigration officer after picking up our bags. Second officer was also nice, he said our case was easy. After 10-15 min of wait he printed our permits (with max permissions) and explained to my husband what to do next. And we took uber to our self-isolation place :)
Congrats for your near easy entry into Vancouver. I want to ask if there was any stress from the Border Officers on your quarantine plans or proof of funds/financial support...

Some people are still waiting from January and February 2020 who applied for Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 intake, you have had a very short wait in comparison to 100000 others I'm afraid. My daughter's full process took I think it was 54 weeks from start to finish, 22 weeks for the study permit part.

Thanks for prompt reply. I also want to ask that my wife will travel with me, she has a valid tourist visa and we have family registry. Should it be anything else to provide to custom officers?

I landed in Vancouver because my school is located there. I suggest to land in an airport where your DLI is, I guess the process did get more or less the same everywhere (even in Toronto)

She needs an additional travel authorization issued by IRCC. You won't be asked about it at the border, but you might have issue checking-in for a flight in your home country. Remember that it is all about whether the travel is discreditory or non-discreditory. I declared that my husband is working and I am studying

There were questions about our self-isolation location and whether it is a shared group space and how our food/groceries would be delivered. We were not asked any financial questions in any point of our journey
