Last week, my wife's eCas was updated to "in progress", so if it makes anyone feel better there are still a few people in the visa offices still working. My wife's application and passport are at the embassy in Beijing, btw.

Can anyone explain what "in progress" refers to? Does this only mean they just opened the application package? Her passport and application have been sitting around since Febuary, so, like everyone else on this forum we are frustrated and worried. :-X My China visa expires in a few months and I don't think authorities here will be too keen on granting me a visa for a fourth straight year.

Btw, I have contacted politicians and media, even got my name in the paper a few times, informing the greater public these strikes are happening (in the most objective way as possible, of course). I'd suggest other Canadians try to get their stories out as well. I doubt there are a lot of Canadians who are even aware this is happening.

Well for what it is worth, I haven't received an ecas update in ten + months. Ecas when online for us when I received my sponsor approval, but nothing since (and we are now at the PPR stage) but no update. Ecas is not the most reliable source of info for your case. Unfortunately, waiting for emails to come is, even though the compulsion is to sit and check ecas several times a day, hoping for some tidbit of good news.

In progress means that they start to work in your wifes applications, they start here backround , but honestly tha can take 3-6 months to be decision made for the VO, , ECas is not all the time updated, they are so many applicants that ECAs it wasnt update any time , but our whenever thjey change something we got updated in ECAs
gOOD LUKC HOPE THIS PROCESS IS GOING TO BE OVER SOON
