I checked and ecas has been updated as per below..

Permanent Residence
We received xxx application for permanent residence on June 2, 2015.
TODAY UPDATED THIS LINE We started processing xxx application on August 10, 2015.
Medical results have been received.

Yup, mine has changed today too.

1. We received your application for permanent residence on January 30, 2015.

2. We started processing your application on April 8, 2015. (new today)

I first got IP on August 21. I also got the email requesting more evidence that my sponsor lives in Canada and RPRF (which I had paid upfront) on Aug 19. According to my GCMS notes from June, my application was received in Ottawa on April 8. Seems like IP now means it was received by the VO, like AOR 2. :p My June notes also stated that my app was still in FCP inventory. I'm not feeling super optimistic that this all means anything, sadly.

Wow I have a new line too, and the date they say they started processing is the same date they received the file in my VO. CAN THIS BE TRUE? Things are actually moving along?!
Wow!
Kinda sad tho that we have all come to not trust what we are told from our Government

The new In-Process now basically has no meaning.
It just means your file is received at your VO office.
Before people used to be frustrated for months that it only shows "application received".
So now to make people happy I guess they changed the definition of "In-Process".

Well have any of the "IP" people received any sort of document request regarding the sponsor's intent to reside in Canada and the RPRF payment request. I believe if you get that request the finish line is close and someone is working the file. If not then the "IP" is essentially an acknowledgement that the file was transferred to the VO on XXX date.

I really hope you're right! I didn't get IP status on ecas until after my doc request.

that's strange to me, because i can understand the original way of doing things: they assured you that they received your application, and then they advised you when they were actually working on it. this way, we will show 'in process' even when they're not working on it, which will lead to us not having any idea when they actually open our file, worrying whether we've missed something, and probably cause more people to call the VO to reassure ourselves everything is okay (even though the agents won't tell us a thing). if they've changed the system and IP no longer means what it used to, i think it was a stupid change and will backfire on them. i'm still hopeful it means our applications are, in fact, being processed.

For my VO people were still seeing "application received" while they already had passport in hand with visa and on their way to the airport. I think it may be a rough start but a good way to get these visa offices to all be uniform.
Here is a link to a thread where ppl are reporting if they have gotten DM yet from this IP change:
