Honestly YES, there is a difference on how foreigners are treated in NS in comparison to other provinces.
Halifax is the biggest city in Nova Scotia but the rest is country side.Of course there are little "cities" like Truro and Windsor but honestly you cant get more country than in Nova Scotia.
Nova Scotia ,that is were people go muddin and 4wheeling,were people dont think about what theyre wearing ,were people dont feel the need to show off with a big fancy car. Theres a country song saying "
That old man right there in the rocking chair
At the courthouse square I'll tell you now
He could buy your fancy car with hundred dollar bills
Don't let those faded overalls fool ya
He made his million without one day of schoolin'" and its absolutely true.People here just wanna enjoy life!Theu dont give a s*** what other people think. But theyre always very friendly and see you as a friend very quickly and you can always count on a nova scotian.
Now back to how they treat foreigners.Ive never ever had any issues being a german in NS. However i got to admit ,if youre not downtown halifax you dont see a single Indian,African, chinese or other foreigner. Were currently residing in BC and man I can tell you you see foreigners EVERYWHERE! Sometimes it even gets to a point were it feels that people are starring at YOU cause youre white! They even get their own signs and supermarkets in their language.Thats too much! I am sorry i am NOT a racist but if you wanna live in another country then try to FIT IN,learn the language ,meet people etc. anyways so yea ive heard stories that people who dont wanna fit in get treated well lets say not that nicely. Not that they have to be afraid or something but its very possible that as long as they ignore canadians they wont get any social feedback.

That is very nice to know.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and opinion! I'll sort of know a bit of what will be waiting for me ;D
I agree with the fact that when someone decides to live in a new country, should at the very least try to fit in and adjust to the local culture and language, it's the minimal to socialize...

I'm a visible minority and I live in Truro. I think everyone is lovely. In England nobody says "Hi!" when you're out for a walk, but people here always do with a big smile.

That is very nice.
As I said, I live in a big city. Unfortunately it is not a habit here so say hi to strangers, but among other things It makes me feel like I don't belong here.
I've noticed that about my husband first time we hung out together, he smiles and says hi to everyone and this is one of the many many things I love about him.
I'm gonna love Nova Scotia too!
Thank you all ;)
