1) You are a Canadian citizen or PR
2) You married someone who lives in another country
3) You applied for Family Class PR sponsorship i.e. outland sponsorship, and received your AOR by now
4) Your spouse managed to get a TRV (generally 6 months) to Canada
5) Spouse arrived in Canada and lives with you currently
6) You applied for an OWP and got it having stated your PR is outland <---- anyone match this category?

Thanks.

Problem is, it takes around 4 to 6 months to get an OWP. Even people who got recently the TRV under that new rule, probably don't have the OWP yet.
I am yet to see a person who did it.

Ok so basically you will likely have to renew the TRV at least once to get an OWP.

You don't renew trv. You probably think about the status that needs to be extended. Again, this is not needed if you have an owp application in progress as it gives you a maintained status

Yes, I didn't mean renew, but rather apply for a new TRV. What do you mean by status being extended?

Thanks for the link but now I think I'm even more confused. In that link, how do they reconcile:
1) as per section R181, a temporary resident may apply to extend their period of authorized stay before it ends. If they have done so, their period of authorized stay as a temporary resident is extended by law until a decision is made [R183(5)]. Such a person is considered to have legal status as a temporary resident during the processing period.

With
2) however, when a foreign national applies for a new TRP, they are not renewing under section R181 but applying for a subsequent TRP as per section A24. Therefore, they do not maintain their temporary resident status during the processing period as they do not meet the requirements of subsection R183(5)

That's for TRP. AFAIK it's a special type of permits for otherwise inadmissible persons. TRP holders do not benefit from the maintained status provision.

I am currently working on OWP for my wife and not going well.

She is inland though.

Is there any difference between inland and outland OWP applications and and how they are processes?
