the agent told me that it is a normal protocol for st.clair to issue the FP request, because it is done automatically. My file was transferred to Scarborough the day FP request was issued from st.clair. My local office is scarbough based on my postal code, and I confirmed it again that its there.

I got my fingerprint request form St.Clair eventhough my local office is Mississauga. I did my fingerprint at an authorized center and they told me RCMP will mail it to St.clair.

I hope they don't RQ me because I literally have not travelled outside Canada for since I came here. My passport has been expired for a long time so making me unable to travel outside the country.
relax, CIC asked for fingerprint mainly because someone with a criminal record have same name and DOB as you. If they confirm you are not the individual with criminal record, then they will book you for test.

I am in the same situation, was asked for fp's in may submitted them on 26th May14, and since i have been waiting, CIC got my FP results from RCMP on 18th July and still processing.

Have you ever had any problem with police or court?

Yes i was in trouble back in 2012 but i was given an absolute discharge from the court. I have submitted court information sheet to CIC. I called CIC yesterday and was told my background checks were done, and everything looks fine, they are still reviewing the court document. I have spoken to a lawyer he said absolute discharge doesn't affect my eligibility for citizenship. I just have to wait, because fingerprint request makes the application non routine.

Well, that is what they say in the template copy letter or can say you very politely. I am damn sure about that my DOB, name, especially my last name doesn't match to any thing, not in Canada but whole North America. But still years back, when I applied for citizenship I got FP. For my astonishment now, the whole process still, including FP took only six months and on seventh month I have my wonderful Canadian Passport in hand!

Case specif flags raised apart, I believe most of the FP request are made out of a random/automated process for the purpose of quality control (later confirmed by a CIC insider to me). Nothing to do with any matching criminal records as said....

@ CicStratos:
Don't worry...CIC is in a mode of transition from an old decision making model to a more shortened fast process. So things may be a little slow at the ignition stage but when the wheel start rolling; you will see for sure it is faster.
Relax.. You will hear some thing very soon from CIC.
