Hi! I'm not sure about live in caregiver.Bridging open work permit are for people who have already applied for PR and they are waiting cic response and they meet this requirements.

To be eligible for a bridging open work permit, the applicants must:

Currently be in Canada;
Have valid status on a work permit that is due to expire within 4 months;
Have received confirmation from CIC that their permanent resident application is eligible under one of the four Economic Classes (FSWP, CEC, PNP and FSTP), and;
Have made an application for an open work permit.

So if you had applied for the PR you can apply for an open work permit(and you are in one of the 4 economic classes) If not I believe you have to renew it the normal way.
You can read the bulletin of CIC

Good luck.
