Hello all,

I have a question : What does ''Background verification status has been updated to Complete" means in the status?

and, what the difference beetwen '' Background verification '', and '' Prohibitions '' ?

I noticed that often here in the discussions, we say that DM comes before the end of the validity of verifications ... Are we talking about background verifications, or "Prohibitions "?

And last question: How long - the statute among the two which is linked to the dm -, does it remain valid, and in how long does it expire on average?

Thank you very much for your clarifications, friends!

, Piotr.

It’s really frustrating and angry to see online applicant got oath invitation only 9 days after DM.
I wonder how long CIC will take to proceed applications sent during COVID period 2019 and 2020.

Who dare to question the almighty IRCC

I think the difference is "Background Verification" is more of a criminal background check and "Prohibitions" are more of a "if you did something to get you in trouble" or you haven't met the residency requirements. AFAIK, DM doesn't change unless the application is withdrawn or denied later on in the process (I'm guessing usually through proof of misrepresentation of the application)

I'm sure someone else better versed in this would be able to give a more precise answer, but that's my guess.
