why did my wife choose canada for her Ph.d.,? Good Question. If she need to go to US for Ph.D., on F1 visa, i need to be only in H1B to work. But these days, US has completely shut down the jobs for H1B holders and I dont think that this is going to change in near future. Then we checked the other options like canada, uk and australia. Felt that canada is the easiest, safest to play with. also, in future we can get into US using canadian passport if at all we get a PR and get citizenship. it is a long way to go. Just these are dreams. let us c how it goes.
by the way, within how many days of receiving the full application the new delhi office rejected the application saying that the duties are not as expected for 0213. Just wanted to know that as i can hold my nerve for those many days and be cool afterwards.

thnx man,
George

George - with all due respect people like you should be barred from Canada permanently because you want to come to Canada to get a Canadian Passport and then move down to the US - thats pathetic and desperate. You will not bring any benefit to Canada and are only using Canada as a step in between. Canada doesnt need immigrants like you - we need immigrants only who will help Canada and not others who will be liabilities. Also, people like you give other hard working immigrants a bad name - Google the word "Canadians of Convinience" and you will understand what I am talking about.

CanSun - that should stop him from applying. Well done.

This is a free world and one can do what he chooses to do.
Your wise cracks are good for nothing.
BTW - There is no harm in dreaming and working towards it.

There are millions of people today moving from one country to other (refugees, asylum seekers etc etc). They are driven by their needs. Canada today takes a large number of refugees and asylum seekers..not looking at thier worth as immigrants but for human value... But eventually they become part of the society (for good or bad)..
So let CANADA decide who is a good immigrant or not... Not people like you who keep coming out with poisonous discussions every now and then (like this one http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/hi-rupeshhari-can-u-clear-this-query-t15481.0.html;msg69705#msg69705)

Shame on you

ADA - The world is what you make of it - free or otherwise.
My wise cracks are better than your dumb comments - or should I say uneducated guess work.

Sure there is no harm in dreaming and working towards a goal as long as you reach that goal and not USE that goal to reach a different goal - by George taking up and wasting an immigration spot in Canada and then moving down to the US will stop another real needy family who is in genuine need of immigration to Canada and contributing to its well being.

By the way - it seems to me that you also applied in the Refugee category as well as the skilled worker category - depends on what you get first as LONG AS YOU GET SOMETHING. Thats called Desperation and not skilled movement in a FREE WORLD.

Also there was some news recently here in Canada about the Canadian Government cracking down on Bogus Refugee Claimants and imposing visa restrictions on some countries because of the reason I mentioned above - IT MIGHT APPLY TO YOU !!!!!

Most Canadians say one thing - Canada is a welcoming and open country to Immigrants as long as they DONT ABUSE THE IMMIGRATION SYSTEM IN CANADA - sorry buddy I would agree with most Canadians here and not with you.

Ok, i have done that before. I did my bachelors to work towards my masters :)

I am sure Canada is aware of such things and will take steps when appropriate but for now Canada probably gets a big boost of immigrants from those wishing to end up eventually in US because it knows for 'x' that applies thinking they will end up in US, 'y' remain in Canada because sometimes US is not that easy. 'x' out of 'y' might be a good ratio for Canada.

CANSUN
I give up..You sound like my buddy from China...

FYI.. I am neither a REFUGEE nor an Asylum Seeker.. But a seeker of good life north of my border...

Looks like you do need some time of peace, so why dont you try yoga!!

And one more thing....

YOU CANNOT JUDGE OTHERS..NEITHER CAN I.. ONLY GOD CAN..

Be a good human being and compassionate being..Eventually that will be your saving grace!!

ADA - You have a friend - thats awesome news. After hearing that - I dont need Yoga since I am at Peace already !!!

We all serve God and most of us have devotion towards God.

But being a good human being also involves giving the needy people a second chance and helping them succeed and NOT using and wasting opportunities for self gain only and closing/blocking the doors for others - that should be your saving grace !!!

Cansun+ADA............I really enjoyed a lot this of your disscussion and really need to appreciate that you both described your point of view very very nicely. I personally Vote for Cansun that one should't take Canadian immigration as a back up plan and block opportunity for a needy and skilled family or individual.

In that case, most of us shouldn't go because there is always someone more needy. Shouldn't we give them the chance to go instead of us. This is especially for those guys from US, India, UK, China, etc where there is no war.

New2canada....We are talking about skilled worker deserving one's not refugees.

so am i. i believe there are skilled workers from war torn regions who are more in need of safe countries than i am.

This is true. CIC should work out their own tradeoff for this and if it was bad, they would put in a rule.

I am cursing myself for getting into this stupid discussion...
