Hi paniz,

Thanks for the advice! Do I need a US visa to do the flag pole?

Pangit

You dont need a USA visa as you dont enter the US, but more like you get turned round in no mans land. They give you a bit of paper to show to the Canadian border people to show you left Canada.

Thanks for the input!
And what is that piece of paper?
I have no idea the process!

Not sure what you call it, they just give you something with a date on which shows you have crossed the border, but only flagged poled.

There isn't anything to worry about. The first time I did it I was having a laugh and a joke with the American Border guard as he was a UK soccer fan, the next time a different guard didn't really speak.

Hi,

I went to a Canada-USA border once using a flagpole. Its really easy when leave canada let them know u are making a U turn and then in USA side explain with your papers that u willbe back immediately cuz you are changing status they'll ask y to come to their office and do some paper work (flagpole)u will sign it and they let u go back to Canada. There u give that flagpole to an officer and start doing ur landing or making ur work permit.

I highly recommend you not to do it in a busy border if u don't mind driving a bit longer....

Hi pangit!
Are you done crossing the border of peace arch and US? I am here in Edmonton and Ihave a scheduled flight to Vancouver to getm new work permit in the border. Any experience so far?

The best place to flag pole would be at Abbotsford on weekdays. I did mine there, the advantage is that you do by foot to beat the vehicle lanes.
The US and Canada border offices are next to each other and process goes very quick. I finished my entire process in 45 minutes. Also officers on either side were helpful and friendly.
