Anyone ever switched status from Work Permit to Visitor Visa?

Hi!

Has anyone ever switched their status from a worker in Canada to a visitor's visa in Canada?
Just curious as to how long the visitor visa was issued for (the length of the visitor visa)?

Any insights is very much appreciated..

Hi I am currently in the process of doing that, the maximum they will give you is 6 months cause they ask you how long do you need.

Thanks for letting me know and sharing your experience with this.
Did you apply for the visitor status/visa BEFORE your work permit expired or AFTER?

I applied for it after they sent me the letter that they can not renew my work permit, so they told me I had 90 days to restore my status.

NOW as you currently have a valid work permit and are not applying for it to be renewed, you need to apply to switch to visitor BEFORE it expires.

No problem! Good luck and remember to include a letter assuring them that you will leave as of the date you have indicated. The more convincing you are , the more likely your application would be approved.

I will be applying for it online - will there be an option to include a supporting letter?
Or did you do yours as a paper application?

I don't know if you can apply for it online. You are not applying for a standard visitors visa, you are applying to change your status from worker to visitor so you have to check the box that states "Change of status"

I don't have the link, if you google form for restoration of status it should come up. I worked with a consultant so she filled it in for me so not sure the exact form. sorry
