Hi everyone

Quick query... about 8 days ago I sent off my fingerprints to FBI for my police clearance. I live in the UK and have been tracking the "journey" of the letter using track and trace. According to the records of both the UK and USA "track and trace" system, the letter is still in the UK. I'm worried that a/the letter has been lost or b/ there are still long delays with sending things to the USA.

Keen to hear about others experience with sending mail to the USA and timescales...

Thanks

???

My Daughter sent me a package to Canada from UK 2 weeks ago, it still hasnt arrived ! maybe theres a postal strike in England again ! but have not heard if there is one .

Definitely no strike! >:(

Can you call the delivery company you sent it with ? maybe they no more .

Good idea... I'll check if there are any known delays...
Thanks for your speedy replies :)

Your welcome ;) Good Luck !

So it doesn't say anything about having been sent to the USA? Try tracking it on the USPS website with the same tracking number. Once it is in the hands of the foreign postal service they may stop updating, so if it just says it was sent to the USA but then nothing, that may be it.

On the UK site it states:
"Your item has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA"

On the USA site it states:
"Status: Origin Post is Preparing Shipment. We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece."

It looks like it is still in the UK. This status has not changed since day 2 of posting.

It's pretty frustrating especially since the process for getting police certificates takes so long in itself...without having extra delays such as this. :(

"passed to the overseas postal service for delivery" - usually means that it is on its way - it has left the UK.

Fingers crossed ;D

You were right Baloo! It has reached the USA however, very frustratingly, it was undelivered with the following message:

Status: Notice Left (No Authorized Recipient Available)

We attempted to deliver your item at 7:04 am on March 18, 2011 in CLARKSBURG, WV 26306 and a notice was left because an authorized recipient was not available. You may arrange redelivery by visiting www.usps.com/redelivery or calling 800-ASK-USPS, or may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice. If this item is unclaimed after 30 days then it will be returned to the sender

Tried to arrange redelivery online but it wouldn't accept the details as it requires a named person :(
Hopefully someone at the FBI office will arrange the redelivery...

Now it says delivered. Phew
