Anyone else? I am hoping to hear about peoples timelines and how things went!

Thank you,
Katie

I would love to know your timelines as well for Rome.

Hi Katie,

my husband and I are going through the Rome office. Our waiting period isn't over yet but I can tell you how it went so far.

The application arrived at CPC Mississauga on Nov, 1st.
I was approved to sponsor my husband on Nov, 25th.
Our file was transferred to Rome on Dec, 6th.
We received our AOR on Feb, 8th.

On the letter they said it might take up to 7-9 months to receive the visa, but they also added that usually the process is faster for Italian Citizens residing in Italy.
(Rome is responsible for applications from Italy, Albania, Greece, Malta, San Marino and Vatican City.)

We have some friends who went through Rome in 2005/2006.
Their time line was smooth and quick:
Application sent around mid November 2005
AOR dated January, 23rd 2006 (the letter said 4-6 months waiting period)
Visa issued on April, 12th 2006

Are you in our same situation? Waiting, waiting and waiting? ;)
I'll keep you posted,

Bye! ;)

Albes, why did it take so long for you?

Canuckinitaly, does your husband live with you in Canada now with you?

Hi Angtao,
actually is the other way around. I live in Italy with my husband, but I can't wait to go home (with him).

Canuck, we were going to apply outland but decided to do inland as my husband lives with me here in Canada.
He is from Greece.

I am going to keep watching your timeline. I am curious to see how long it will take you guys.

I wish you the best of luck.

Thank you to everyone who responded! It’s nice being able to see what timelines people are having through the Rome office. It’s a bit discouraging when you look on the website and see processing times at 13 months :(

@ CanuckyInItaly -> I actually haven’t even applied yet! Everything is pretty much ready to go, just needs to be organized, and waiting for a couple more documents. My husband has had difficulty getting police records from when he lived in Greece (He is an Albanian Citizen, was living in Greece illegally for around 8 years) so we have basically been waiting for police record from Greece for 9 months!!! So frustrating. But we are hoping to have all the documents and everything very soon! Once things get moving I will update on this post, I hope that you will update us also! Best of luck!

@ Albes -> Why did everything take so long? Are you from Albania also?

yeah kattie im from Albania,we were under livin in care giver program,my wife was a livin care giver ,i was in canada but illegally(failed refugee claimant) and had to go back to albania to start the process, rome strtef my application around march 2007 i guess and i came to canada march 2009,dont worry if u have what they need you will be fine its just you need patiente,

Hi Albes,
I feel much better after reading what you wrote! So all in all it took you 2years to get your pr? We just sent our stuff on June 14 so now the waiting game begins! Hopefully my husband will be joining me in Canada in a speedy manner! He was illegal in Greece for years, so it's comforting to learn that despite being illegal you were granted PR.

Hi Katie,

Remember me? ;-)
A quick update: My husband's application has been in process since June 15th!
We check our email/mailbox/ecas everyday... We're going crazy!

I've just wanted to tell you that there are a couple more people going through Rome Office.

We should definitely start a new thread, something like "Thread for Rome Visa Office Applicants", to keep all the infos together for those who will come after us! What do you think about it?

YES! when I first started the process I had to searh high and low to find others going through Rome. I think it's a fabulous idea to start a thread for all of us previous Rome folks and the ones who will one day join. It's great being able to see other peoples timelines, stories, and to be able to have a bit of and idea if what to expect! And of course I remember you!

Hi guys!
Quick update: This morning my husband received an email from the Rome Visa Office.

PASSPORT REQUEST!!!! Hurray!!!!
