Anyone applying via Damascus ?

high dear all
I have applied as an skilled worker to Nova Scotia and they sent a letter on 12 th of Feb 09,then I sent my documents to Damascus Canadian embassey (i am applying from Iran)and they sent a letter confirming application on 26th May 09 ,and since 5th of Aug 09 my file has been in progress(checking via internet),but still i have not recieved medical forms .Is it natural?does any has had such situation?

How long does it take that they inform you of the receipt of your application. I sent it 3 weeks ago in September 2009 but nothing has happened yet. Do they give you a file number at first or just send a confirmation e-mail?

You can check the latest status of your application on the official website of CIC. There is a column that says "check my application status" on your right-hand side. As far as the timing, you need to be patient. Sometimes it takes you more, sometimes less. Don't let other cases be a yardstick for you. Each case is different and hence the timings vary.

Originally I had applied to Cairo Visa Office on March 2007, then I just sent a new Application under the new rules on September 2009 to be process in Damascus Office. and I’m waiting now.

it depends on the way you have posted your document .i had sent them by courier(dhl)and recieved their reply about 1 month later.the date on the letter was just 4 days after they had recieved the documents.it means that it took about 20 days for the post service to transfer the letter . for my medical request i asked them to send it via courier and they did so(of course I paid for it)

how did u ask them to send your medical forms by courier? did they send you an email to inform u that you have passed to medical stage then you requested to pay more and recieve them by courier?

I just sent an e.mail to the embassy and after a while they sent me an e.mail to arrange for courier (by then it had reached to medical stage) .no i didnt exactly know when they would send medical request .by the way you can approximately guess how long it will take from reading the others experiences

Ok, thanks for the reply. Would you please let me know how many days you were in Processing stage that caused you sent a letter to embassy and request for status update? I have heard sending letter to embassy to get your file status update when it is in its normal waiting period may cause more delay in your processing stage!

By the way guys, the updated document checklist for Damascus visa office states that you can ask the visa office to send you the medical forms any time you want ( on your own risk), so that it does not guaranty that you will be granted the visa, so if your application takes more than one year processing, you will have to retake the medical before the visa is issued, or if your application is refused for any reason, you will lose the money that you paid for the medical checks.

Therefore, i think it is not worth it to request your medical checks to be done on your own risk.

"Applicants may at any time request that medical instructions be issued, and may undergo an immigration medical examination at their own risk. It is important to note, however, that undergoing an immigration medical examination does not guarantee that a permanent resident visa will be issued.

The permanent resident visa has the same validity period as the medical results, that is, 12 months from the
date of the first examination or test."

Applied through Damscus CHC, sent my Docs in Sep and still waiting for 2nd AOR!!

any people in the same boat?? do always Damscus CHC send 2nd AOR?? i've heard that its not necessary that CHC has to send 2nd AOR??

please pay attention that im not recommending the way i did.every case is different and also the reason for mailing them for me was that i was absolutely disappointed about local postal service.If you have a box outside home and know that you will receive the letters sooner or later its better for you to wait .I used to find letters on the ground ,wet and sometimes foot track on them.
about what professional had said :i have to tell you i didnt ask them for my medicals,i wrote them in case they want to send me any document i prefer to recieve it via courier.in response (after 2 weeks)they wrote to me how to arrange for it.
