Does anyone know, by chance, about how many applications are received by Bogota per year? And how many are family class? I saw something online about it a long time ago, but I cant remember the page it was on.

Makool,
800 photos !?!?! That is impressive. I sent about 300, and I thought that was a lot! I am hoping that will be enough along with my other evidence. Nothing I can do now, because it is out of my hands. Congrats on getting the application through so fast... you are a beacon of hope for the rest of us Bogota applicants.
If you really want to know. Go to www.data.gc.ca and search for Immigration. Then download the file for Permanent Residents.

Hola, Hello

I am so frustrated with the Bogota Office. In June they tried to deliver documents to my husband's house in Armenia but couldn't find the house so they called and his father gave them directions. The papers never arrived and we are here in Canada and have no idea what they were about. We have called there and emailed but they just tell us they can't do anything without a File#. We can see on the website with my Client ID that Bogota received the papers March 28, 2011. I keep asking for the file number and explaining about the package. It's so frustrating.
Is it better to Fax a letter? Help anyone. My husband is here on a visitors visa but he can't work or study.

Colombia

I sponsored my wife who is from Ecuador and here are some details:

Filed application Dec 27, 2011
First part was approved Feb 14, 2012 and application was sent to Bogota for further processing.
April 16, 2012 - Received AOR from Bogota.
Aug 14, 2012 - Received a letter from Bogota asking for Wife's original passport and Landing fee.
Aug 17, 2012 - Bogota received wife's passport sent via DHL.

My wife is still waiting for her passport with the PR visa stamped.
I hope this info will help people who are waiting on their cases.

Btw, anyone has any idea how long does it take for the PR visa stamping?

Hi sridoy

I sponsored my husband from Ecuador, and I am not sure how typical my case is because we encountered a number of problems that I hope don't happen to you... you can PM me if you want.

Basically, if they are in a rush, it can take about a week at the fastest from the day they receive the passport, stamp it, and then send it back.

I was asked to pay for a prepaid waybill, which complicated matters thoroughly, but in the end it all worked out!

It will for you too! You are so close! Congrats

Hi Sixrogue,

Thank you for your response. It's more than 6 weeks now since the embassy received my wife's passport and we are still waiting. They did not ask for any prepaid waybill from us, but we did arrange with DHL for the passport to be picked up from the embassy once it is ready. I am not sure what's the delay.

I noticed on your profile
Passport Req..: 08-02-2012
VISA ISSUED...: 01-06-2012
So it took you almost 4 months to get the passport stamped?

Hi sridoy

Yes, it took a long time. I think our situation is unique because we lived north of Otavalo and there wasnt a good phone signal. Or mail service. Or internet. That made it difficult to communicate.

Also, our passport went missing when our delivery truck was hijacked. Then, we had to report all that, get new ones and do it all over again.

Complicated.

If you want, you can try emailing or faxing them. However, the problem I found was that they could read my email, but all the email they sent to me never reached me. In my instance, contact by phone was our only successful method of communication.

And the office staff will not tell you if the fax went through or not.

I am believer that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, but to each his own.

Thanks sixrogue. We tried calling them sometime back and they told us it takes anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 months. So I am hoping the passport will arrive any time now.

Maybe its because they send the passports back via mule!!! Glad you're almost at the end of your journey!
