Hello
Can somebody who was deported after divorce ( from an American wife) from USA more than 12 years ago apply under FSW to Canada? Do you know somebody with similar circumstances?

Why did you get deported? Normally when you marry a US citizen, the citizen can claim permanent residence for you and even I you get divorced you are still a resident, anyway, you can immigrate to Canada if you meet all the requirements, of course Canada will ask you about your past marriage and divorce and you have to be totally honest, don´t hide anything because if you get caught lying you may be banned for misleading information. There is no guarantee you will be refused or accepted.

Thanks for your response. I was deported because I was only on a temporary green card. In fact, I was waiting for the invitation letter to come for the permanent residency interview. But as my ex wife was thinking about divorce at that time, she kept the letter secret and hide it from me. You will tell how did you know this? I knew it only when I was caught by INS later after divorce and I was told that I did not show up for the interview and I am out of status. I appealed but I lost the case. I had no felonies and my criminal record is clean. This gapped back in 2002. Do you think that Canada immigration officials will ask me about providing an FBI criminal record. Anyway, I asked for it and I am waiting. By the way, I had a daughter who is now almost 14 with ex wife. Now I am married to another lady in another country and I have two little children. No I told Canada about this deportation case and explained how this has happened. I sent them also my local police certificate and it says NONE. But I know that I need the same from every country where I lived more than 6 months and I remained in the US 6 years. I did my MBA there and was a teacher for two years.

Thanks and I look forward to your opinion.
