Anybody got 'One year graduate study' in WES Report?

I have someone who sent only her MBA qualification to WES for evaluation. The expectation is that WES ECA report will be Canadian Masters however, my question is, since she did not send her Bachelors for evaluation, is it necessary she indicates details of her of her Bsc while filling her educational background on EE? Thank you

I did the same thing - just sent my MBA transcripts to WES - and WES completed their evaluation and said it is equivalent to Canadian Masters on the ECA report. I didn't even send my Bachelors transcripts neither did WES ask for any of my Bachelor documents.

But in the EE application, as I remember, when asked for how ECA classified my education, there was no place for one year of graduate studies.

I would prefer to get some of the inferior qualifications listed on ECA conversion table than "One year graduate study" in addition to my Bachelor's degree.

In fact, "One year graduate study" = nothing and I will have to retake my IELTS exam.

There isn't, although anyone who has more than two diplomas/certificates has to put that for both credeantials otherwise it won't count as two and won't give the correct points.

Any updates from anyone on this topic? How can WES give an assessment for our completed masters degree as "one year graduate study" :'(
Basically it means people like us who have completed masters will get the same points as people who have not done masters!
Can someone please confirm if we can consider this as "two or more post-secondary degrees"?

yes you can....in the CIC website it is listed if you are studying towards a master's program you can select two or more degree,certificate option....as one year of graduate study is studying towards a masters degree that is what we can opt for...atleast thats what i have done....have read all the counter arguments but still this is the option with most supporting info

Hey guys, I have a different interpretation regarding that:

According to WES, Graduate means a Study or program undertaken after bachelor's degree, usually in preparation for master's degree or Ph.D. (doctorate).

And from the CIC website it is considered Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees:.


Isn't a One-year of graduate studies a Study Toward a Master's Degree ? I believe if you have a bachelor's degree you can claim more points if you have an ECA as One-year of graduate study as well.

I have discussed this in many threads before. This is indeed the right option. two or more... I had the same situation, and on confirmation I went ahead with this option claiming a total of 129 corresponding points. I'm awaiting my PR

JB007: Can you please confirm what was mentioned in your ECA summary? was it only bachelors degree (four years)? Or was it Bachelors (three years) and One year graduate summary?

Please specify what was mentioned in your ECA summary (in the first page)? Accordingly I can also update my CIC account. Currently I have just chosen bachelors degree fearing a rejection at a later stage.. :-X

While in EE profile, I am going to mention it as Two or more degree/diploma/certificate with one education having three years of bachelor (right now waiting for IELTS only).

But your case is slightly different. Since your "postgraduate certificate" has been recognized by WES as a "certificate"
In my case the Canadian equivalency for the two year M.Sc. program is "one year graduate study"

So I really don't know if we can choose 'two or more post secondary certificates'

I am being extra careful here coz in case I get an ITA my application should not be rejected becoz of this mismatch between the ECA summary and the information :'(

If your 3 year BSc and 2 year MSc have been collectively assessed as a 4 year Canadian Bachelors degree, then you have done the right thing by choosing Bachelors option in your EE profile.

I don't think you can claim "Two or more..."

Your 2nd degree says 1 year of Graduate study. Graduate not Post-graduate which is what it should've been if it was evaluated as a post-Bachelor's education credential. You haven't mentioned your overall summary, what does that say?

I imagine that you will have to choose Bachelor's degree in your profile.

Thanks for pointing that out and I am indeed aware of that distinction. I was taking my cues from this list published on CIC. I couldn't find One year of graduate study on that list while it does list post-graduate and post-bachelors rather prominently.

Does your overall summary say 'Bachelors' or 'Masters'?

On the top it says Bachelor Degree - 4 years and I believe that is for Bachelors but what if I take Masters as "Study towards Masters" from the list above. It is a study that is done towards Masters.
