i think your question got cut off
lol... you are right..

Hey guys!

I was just hoping i could get some info from members here who had an interview.

My husband had his interview yesterday at the canadian embassy in Santo Domingo. I was a little bummed as my husband told me that he wasn't approved on the spot. The agent told him that he would receive a response in 2 weeks.

The request letter we received for an interview asked that he bring additional things with him to interview, like: passport, pictures, phone calls, conversations, evidence of financial support etc... he took all this with. Im not sure if those here who were requested to attend an interview left their passports with the agent doing the interview or not?

I was just hoping i could get some feedback from people who had to attend an interview and how it went for them.

Sorry, I'm not totally clear on this; did they ask him to leave his passport?

as long as you can provide your NOA and a statement of income i think youd be ok... send an explanation letter that youre self employed.. you should be ok!!

Thank you so much for replying starnaenae!
Would you happen to know if there’s a requirement on how much money you make annually?

the letter they sent requesting an interview asked him to bring his passport with him to the interview along with other documents.

My question was, if anyone who had an interview left there passport with official doing the interview...?

Greetings!
I’m so happy that I’ve found this forum in the hopes that I will get some advise from people who are in the same situation. I’m a Canadian citizen living in Canada. My Dominican husband and I just recently got married after being together in love for just over 1 yr. While we were engaged we applied for a visitor visa which was denied on the grounds that they didn’t believe he would return back to R.D. We are planning to apply for spousal sponsorship very soon but I’m worried that because I’m self employed he will be denied. I met a Canadian man in R.D. while visiting my husband and he told me that it will be difficult for me because the Canadian government wants to see that I have a stable job. Can anyone out here help me out and let me know what you think. I would be so sad if my husband couldn’t come here. Thanks in advance it’s much appreciated!

I was in your position too. I worried because I was self employed and obviously being self employed your income can look fairly low (if you want it to) However, it was not an issue! So don't stress about it.

They did ask if they could keep my husbands passport. After they asked us questions separately, they called us in together, asked my husband if he was ok with them keeping his passport, and said they were satisfied with us and we were approved.

I believe it helps to have your spouse at the interview. I know they say it's not a requirement.
I do know of another couple who had an interview in October and it was their third time. The two previous times he went by himself and was not approved. This time she went down with him and they were approved.

Thanks KloveG. I appreciate your reply. Definitely makes me feel less worried!

Thanks for this! I know every case is different, but this helped me out a bunch.

You are welcome. If you need anything just ask :) it's nice to have advice and someone who's been through it. Especially from DR

You are welcome. This forum helps a lot especially talking to people who are from the same place

hello :)

I would like to know if it's true that interviews for sponsorship in Santo Domingo are done only twice a year? (February & September) ?

Thanks.
