We are writing this letter to bring to light, a very important and grievous issue that has risen in the past few weeks. A huge number of international students have been denied a Post Graduate Work Permit Program (PGWPP) despite completing a full-time Program (The General Arts and Sciences program or GAS) at the Niagara College - which is a 48 year old, designated learning institution.

As per the rules outlined by the CIC (Citizenship and Immigration Canada) all international students who complete a full-time course at a designated learning institution (designated by the CIC) are eligible for receiving a PGWPP. However, over the past month, some of the many international students at Niagara College have been denied this work permit on the grounds that the GAS program includes distance-learning courses; and individuals who complete these distance-learning studies are not eligible for a work permit.



This a copy of the online petition the students who got refused for the work permits have posted on a live website asking the Indian government to intervene.
