Why don't you apply your self?

I think, you must be well qualified because Canada FSW is for skilled people.

We (forum members) are here to solve all of your queries, really absolutely free and better than any consultant.

Thanks visaexpert, thanks buddy for your support. I know you guys are better than consultants and FREE! :)

I'll be going for immigration with a friend of mine, I am convinced that we can do it on our own with the help of you guys but my friend says we should at-least get ourself assessed by someone who has is good at Canadian immigration i.e a good, reliable and experienced consultant.

People who are good at what they do are always hard to find, thats why I asked for your advice. Please share your insight on this.

Please dont be trapped. They re gonna declare you eligible, even if u r not, for the sake of their fee. Just go through CIC's website in detail, for once. It is highly comprehensive and user friendly.
Good luck.

Yes dear no problem; i am from Lahore & handling my case myself. The process is very simple & CIC website is excellent. It provides you every bit of info u need. Also, in this forum u can find many sucessful immigrants with personal experience.

So my suggestion is dont waste your money & time. Start assessment of your application today. Visit CIC.gc.ca

ARC :- :)

In Pakistan consultants charge from 1000 US dollars to 2500 US dollars. They will portray that they have inside ears to embassy and will even try there best to get you a Waiver for interview.
Here is what I will recommend you…

Take a Bath .. Stand in front of the Mirror and see your own face and ask this question to your self.

1) Are you educated? Means is there a category for Canadian immigration under which you qualify?
2) Do you want to save money?
3) Do you have confidence in you?

If answers to these questions are YES. Than you don’t need a consultant. It’s a very simple process. Do it your self. This is an excellent forum with a lot of helpful experienced people. Every one will be more than happy to help you.

If the answer to above questions is NO.. than you need a consultant.

I hope this helps

Hi guys,

Thanks for your encouraging response.

Here are my details (like visaexpert asked) for assessment and comments from your side:

I did a self assessment from CIC skilled self assessment tool (please see first link in my signature) and here is what i selected during the test.

Education
I am a CS graduate with 16 years of education. So I selected option "Obtained two or more university degrees at the bachelor's level and completed at least 15 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies"

Work Experience
I have 5 yrs experience in total with out any breaks in between. Out of which more than 1 yr is managerial experience which is on the 38 Occupations List (i.e 0213-Computer and Information Systems Managers) and rest of my experience is as Software Engg (which is Skill Type A). So I selected the option "4 or more years".
Questions:
1. I have around 1 yr experience in 0213 and rest of my experience is in Skill Type A. Is my experience OK?
2. I am doing Managerial work but my designation during this period was Senior Software Engg and Team Lead. Is this a problem?

Age
My age is 30 so i selected 21-49.

Language Ability
I have IELTS band 8. So i selected High Proficiency in English Read, Write, Speak and Listen and No Proficiency in French.
Question: My IELTS is more than 1 yr old (I tool IELTS exam in Sept 2008) as IELTS is valid for 2 yrs (i.e till Sept 2010), I dont have to retake the exam if I apply before Sept 2010, right?

Spouse Education
My wife has 16 yr of education (outside canada) so I selected "Two or more university degrees at the bachelor's level and completed at least 15 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies"

I have No Arranged Employment, I and my Spouse haven't studied/worked in Canada and nor do we have any family in Canada.

I got 73 score.

1Education22
2Language Ability16
3Work Experience21
4Age10
5Arranged Employment0
6Adaptability4
7Total Score73

Questions (although the tools says i am eligible but its only self assessment):
1. Am I eligible to get Canadian immigration on fast track?
2. What is the requirement as a proof of maintenance/living funds of >16000C$, I can't keep this much amount reserved in my account for 1.5-2yrs?
3. Questions/Comments form you guys.

Thanks.

GOOD YOU ARE ABLE TO ASSES FILE YOURSELF.

Here are my details (like visaexpert asked) for assessment and comments from your side:

Education

IF YOU HAVE SINGLE BACHELOR DEGREE THEN 20 POINTS, NOT 22.
YOU WILL NOT GET ADDITIONAL POINT IF YOU HAVE 16 YEARS OF TOTAL EDUCATION.
IF YOU HAVE DOUBLE DEGREE, THEN IT IS 22 POINTS

Work Experience
I have 5 yrs experience in total with out any breaks in between. Out of which more than 1 yr is managerial experience which is on the 38 Occupations List (i.e 0213-Computer and Information Systems Managers) and rest of my experience is as Software Engg (which is Skill Type A). So I selected the option "4 or more years".
Questions:

1. I have around 1 yr experience in 0213 and rest of my experience is in Skill Type A. Is my experience OK?

YES, YOU OCCUPATION IS UNDER 38 CATEGORY. YOU ARE ELIGIBLE

2. I am doing Managerial work but my designation during this period was Senior Software Engg and Team Lead. Is this a problem?

DESIGNATION DOESN'T MATTER, YOUR JOB DUTIES SHOULD MATCH WITH NOC:0213

Age
My age is 30 so i selected 21-49.

Language Ability
I have IELTS band 8. So i selected High Proficiency in English Read, Write, Speak and Listen and No Proficiency in French.

YOU MUST TAKE IELTS AGAIN.
IT IS VALID FOR 1 YEAR FOR FSW CASES.
IT MAY BE VALID FOR 2 YEARS FOR STUDY VISA.

Spouse Education
My wife has 16 yr of education (outside canada) so I selected "Two or more university degrees at the bachelor's level and completed at least 15 years of full-time or full-time equivalent studies"

4 POINTS WHETHER SINGLE DEGREE OR DOUBLE DEGREE

I have No Arranged Employment, I and my Spouse haven't studied/worked in Canada and nor do we have any family in Canada.

I got 73 score.

YOUR TOTAL SCORE MAY BE 71, I AM NOT SURE ABOUT YOUR EDUCATION POINTS WHETHER 22 OR 20.

1Education22
2Language Ability16
3Work Experience21
4Age10
5Arranged Employment0
6Adaptability4
7Total Score73

Questions (although the tools says i am eligible but its only self assessment):
1. Am I eligible to get Canadian immigration on fast track?

YES, OF COURSE YOU ARE ELIGIBLE

2. What is the requirement as a proof of maintenance/living funds of >16000C$, I can't keep this much amount reserved in my account for 1.5-2yrs?

PROOF OF FUND REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN IN YOUR OWN BANK ACCOUNT JUST FOR 3 TO 6 MONTH ONLY.

3. Questions/Comments form you guys.

YOU MAY ASK IF YOU HAVE STILL SOME QUERIES

Thanks for your reply Visaexpert :)

So i will get 20 points for education as I have total 16 yrs of education. Doesn't matter I guess because I still have 71 points :)

Giving IELTS again will waste another month or so of mine I hope occupation list doesn't change by then :( - any insight on this?

Can you clarify when does the 3-6 months maintain funds period start? i.e at the start when I submit the application or at some later stage? and I heard that i need to show this amount later in form of bank draft etc when I land at Canadian airport to get in? Because I need sometime to arrange this money.

One more thing, my IELTS is general and it says on my IELTS certificate that its valid for 2 yrs, do I still have to retake IELTS?

You can send your initial application without IELTS.
You need to fill some form and send to Sydney, Canada with Application Fees for you and your spouse.

After that, you will get your file number and the request to send full documents within 120 Days.
When you submit you full documents, you need to submit Proof of Fund details.

After that, you will get Visa within 3 to 6 month. You need to main your Proof of fund in bank account until you get your visa.

Suppose
you apply in June - 2010 ( without IELTS result)
you send full documents in September 2010 (at this stage you need to show bank balance & IELTS result)
you get the visa at starting of 2011 ( you need to maintain POF in bank until you get visa)

Thanks visaexpert for your continued help.

According to the supposition above:

When they ask for my full documents in Sept, I can put maintenance money in my account and attach bank statement of that day with my full documents list and send them and after that I will have to maintain around 17000C$ funds till Jan 2011 (around 3 months). right?

Why do I need to maintain funds till Jan2011, isn't it against bank privacy policy to show account holder's account details to some external body?

And is there a requirement that says that I need to show these funds present in my account for a certain period of time?

Another question :) , people in this forum say that despite CIC claims it takes around 1.5 - 2yrs for the complete process. 17000C$ is a lot of money which I guess you will agree with me that it cant be blocked for 1.5 yrs. Can you suggest something on this.

Thanks.

Dear Friend,

Money will be in your own account. It will not be blocked. You can withdraw and deposit if you want, but you need to maintain average required balance for visa office.
