Hey Everyone,

I created this topic in the hope of connecting with other NOC 2271 Express Entry applicants. :)

I specifically wanted to ask if anyone knew about work experience requirements for a successful EE application under this NOC. As pilots I think we can agree that the job market (especially in India) hasn't been kind to us. The riddle goes like this: "CMEL-IR holder with 250+ hours seeks entry level position to gain work experience, but cannot get entry level position without work experience. What does he do?"

Are any of you in a similar situation? What are you doing about it?

To be clear: I DON'T have any work experience as a pilot for an airline or charter company. The only applicable real work experience that I have (and got paid for) were "on-campus" jobs I worked while at university in the USA (KDAB).

So, in your opinion, how many hours of TT or years of work experience does one need to make the cut?

Thanks! :)

I have applied for EE with NOC2271. Unfortunately, my background is completely different than your situation but I will still share my situation.

I got my Bachelor in Canada and started working as a flight instructor in Canada under the Post Grad Work Permit. With my work experience in Canada I was able to get a CRS score of 469 and got invited in the 7th draw to apply for PR.

Oh and just some background info about the Aviation industry in Canada:Like you have said it is difficult to get a pilot position with 250TT. Common ways here are either instructing or working the ramp at a Northern/remote area for up to a year or two before you will get a flying position. But I guess for you, you will have to figure out how to come here first (PR/Working Visa) before you think about getting a job.

Hey thanks for the reply!

A ramp-to-flight position is what im looking for, since almost no one hires AGI/IGI's and i never had the $$$ to do my CFI/II. I do have an FAA ADX (dispatchers license) though...think that might be useful? Its NOC is 2272.2.

I did 6 years of undergrad at Embry-Riddle, got my BSc in Aeronautical Science, and a minor in Applied Met (WX). Do you think my degree will help any?

And are you saying that EE is not an option for me? That i would need prior work experience in Canada under the 2771 NOC or else the EE track for me won't work?

Thanks! :)

Well, you just need to satisfy either the FSW or CEC program requirement and get a high enough CRS score to get invited to apply for PR under EE.

About that CRS Score...

What is a certificate of qualification? cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp---> im looking right at the bottom of the page under CRS-C.

I am a low time pilot (NOC 2271) and I want to know if my American FAA issued pilots license is this “Certificate of Qualification”. Therefore, do I get the 50 points here since I’m unmarried?

I calculated what I feel to be an accurate CRS score using the "Points Breakdown - Section by section" in the second half of that page. I got between 413 and 488...depending if i get this 50 i just asked about, and an additional 25 for foreign work experience.

Thanks for all the feedback and help. :)
